Attendances comparison with same stage last season.

We are at number 163 in the table and are 9 spectators per match down compared with last season!

Wrong!

In a previous thread Ockers showed that our total attendances in League games at home to date have actually increased and as a result our average per game is also up.

As a newbie to Christie Park experience i am shocked by the poor turnout at home matches Morecambe offer the cheapest single match ticket's in the football league2 and still we are lucky to recieve 2000 home fans omg.

What more do Morecambe have to do 2 get the fans in do a braddie and offer £100 season tickets lol i wish please ;)

But really i glad that Morecambe aren't at home today because of the Manchester united lunchtime kick-off lol

Darren if you came to Christie Park in our first season afer we got promoted we had attendances of around 3,500 for most games

Heysham honestly mate i've lived in Morecambe after moving up here from Colchester so when Morecambe went up i had no interest in watching Morecambe because i was going to football stadium's with Charlton such as Blackpool away , Preston , Oldham .

My point is i only starting watching morecambe from the Hereford home match 2-2 it was and i been every home well i missed Accrington at home thats all and if i had more hours at work i would be more than to go away matches.

If Morecambe had 3500 home fans why no more its not like Morecambe are fighting a relegation battle or cant attract decent players to join Sammy's team.

Personally i like Gary Hunter and id love him at Charlton but we've just signed a Hunter type player in Johnny Jackson.

After 16 home league games:

2008/09
Total: 32,059
Average: 2,004

2009/10
Total: 34,298
Average: 2,144

So after 16 home league games our average attendance has actually increased by 6.98%.

However, I wouldn't read much into any figures until we are at the end of the season and have a full sample. For example, the 09/10 total includes the Bradford home fixture; the 08/09 total doesn't as we didn't play Bradford until April. As this fixture was by far our biggest crowd last season (4,546) it is bound to influence the average for the 08/09 season as a whole.

Maybe, but that's not exactly the 3,500 you were claiming is it?

We had an average of 3500 over around 3 selective games, bradford and county played a big part, we need leeds to come down if we want to keep our average over 2000

Just checked on the official coca cola stats for last season, 2153 was our average for last season, with our highest gate being bradford, (4546)

so far this season our average is 2097, accrington being the highest with 3478, so barring a miracle sell out for the final game against aldershot we will be similar or slightly lower than last season.

According to the figures provided by Ockers some time back, of the first 15 games played at home this season a total of 32731 have attended games that gives an average of 2182 with the game v Accy the highest gate of 3478.

Last season the first 15 home games gave a total of 29761 which gives an average of 1984.

I expect us to sell out for the last game of the season.

Just out of interest, what is the official sellout figure? Is it about 5,500 at Christie?
Do you really think that will happen at the final game? I would be surprised. A lot of stay away fans would have to suddenly show an interest, and at that time of year i.e.early May, there are lots of other things for them to do/see on a Saturday in May.

I think it will be a good gate, but not a sell out, 3500-4000 tops :!:

Capacity is 6400

If the club market the game well enough it will sell out, but considering the Accrington game this season was just shy of 3500, I'd expect that as a minimum.

Well i hope that i am wrong Harry but i think you are being somewhat optimistic, i cant see it selling out no matter how much the club market the game, in fact i don't see it being much above the average gate.

The last game at Christie Park means a lot to the regular supporters but to the casual fan and the people of Morecambe in general who are pretty apathetic towards the club then the last game at Christie Park will probably not have much pulling power.

I agree. Add it up roughly. the regulars would be about 1600, add maybe another 600 who go occasionally but will go as it is the last ever match there and how many from Aldershot if ther's nothing riding on it for them? Maybe 150. Total: only 2350. :o or am I way off the mark????
