Well it doesn't sound as bad as it could have done eg Sainsburys stadium, asda stadium etc

However with them been the construction firm are we actually getting cash upfront or is it just been knocked off the bill at the end.

yeah i would have preferred globe stadium. but i suppose that would refer only to the ground itself not all the facilities that we have with it

Yeah I guess an "Arena" suggests closed in and ours won't be that.

It will also save building the hotel as there is already one in Overton!

Yeah, the potential chaos caused by a beer delivery going to our Globe won't be as bad as if we were sponsored by Sainsburys and got one of their deliveries by mistake!

It was inevitable that this would happen. The construction firm that are building the stadium sponsor it. So in other words, the club get 250k knocked off the bill. Which means globe construction add it on in hidden costs as we all know these firms do. Which means all the club get out of it is a terrible stadium name.

Instead of "Man of the Match" we could have "Golden Globe Awards".

Just so long as the players don't (arti)choke out on the pitch!

seeing the builders are sponsoring the new ground it would be nice if they'd do the decent thing and sort us a very good deal out for the new roof

Personally I think the name has a certain ring to it. Could have been an awful lot worse anyway!

Short of being the Ann Summers Arena, I can't see how much worse it could be!
We have a name which would be more suited to a ground6 or 7 times the capacity we will have and a badge which looks like it belongs on an under 12's team shirt.
One reason for the badge design change was that it is easier to control it for copyright purposes. Well, I never saw Lancaster Road flooded with people selling fake club stuff.
I know some of you will try to give me hell for this, but frankly, this has cheapened the club in my opinion. The badge is just a copy of the Arsenal badge, and not a good one at that.
Did we actually get any money for the ground name? I doubt that, most clubs are pleased to say they got X amount for selling their soul, I mean ground name. No, we will have got a discount. Who benefits from this discount, us or sainsbury's, as they paid for the build didn't they?

I very much doubt if that happened. The contract price would have been agreed with Globe a long time before the ground naming rights were sold.
They will be paying it in 5 instalments every year rather than upfront which is normal business practice.
