i imagine we will have to cover his sick pay on principle as we took him on a season long loan till summer

Bad news indeed.
What happens in situations like this? We've got him on loan and i assume paying a big percentage if not all of his wages. Does an insurance policy covering both clubs kick in to cover the wages element? Who pays for the initial operation?
