Had enough of this bloody ice!

I should be 2 weeks into my Marathon training plan by now, but trying to run on this damn ice is near impossible! :x Hope it thaws soon! :(

If you remember, I posted a thread towards the back of last year asking fellow Morecambe supporters and SV members if they could spare a little cash for CancerCare and sponsor me in my Marathon run and Mount Kilimanjaro summit climb.

Now that Christmas and new year are out of the way I was hoping that you generous lot would help me get the ball rolling along nicely and get the year off to good start. :D

I've started by donating £100 myself, and a further £20 that I would have spent tomorrow but since the games off, CancerCare can have it.

You can donate by going to http://www.justgiving.com/paulisclimbing

If you have any problems with the online donating site, then please drop me a PM and I can pick up any sponsorship in person.

Thanks

Paul.

Me and Lloyide want to start our GNR preparations but can't.

The best place to go running at the moment is the road round the uni clear of all ice, snow etc I have been out a couple of times this week and it's been fine.

You might want to have a think of having a drive up at night and doing a few laps watch out though there more hills than you think.

Just been for a hours run this morning and it wasnt too bad. Took it easy on the icy bits. The canal tow path was fine, not icy just hard packed snow

Not for everybody - 'running machines' - I absolutely hate them.

In the last 2/3 days I have used the cycle path between Lancaster & Morecambe and this am did 'The PROM' from Happy Mount PK to Heysham Village & back , spectacular scenery. I managed to stay upright - its a strange surface to run on and although you struggle to get a real pace going and the route is flat ; it seems to take it out of the legs , possibly because you 'tense up' ? ?

Both these locations have been fine and not as slippy as you might expect.

I can't stand them either, don't have a gym membership either.

Think I'll give the cycle track a go tonight and see how I get on.

Well, I managed a decent run and although I had to back off on the pace, the ice didn't seem to be too much of a problem. funny thing is, it seemed easier to run on it then walk?? :?

The thaw has begun

Almost feels tropical compared to the last week!

The thaw may have begun, but now we've got the serious problem of melting snow frezing during the night and creating absolute chaos on footpaths and untreated roads.

Had an emergency call from the Hospital to say that my mum had been admitted and i needed to get her some bits and pieces from her home in Bare.

The pavements and roads are treacherous!
