Firstly I am not into horse racing but surley Tony McCoy should be in the short list this year and why is Phil Taylor always overlooked.

I also thought Ross Brawn should have been up for an award this year possibly coach of the year or team of the year the man is a genius and one of Britain's biggest success stories up their with dave Brailsford in cycling.

If it was on looks, then Jessica Ennis gets it (ooh err missus)

On long term appeal, Ryan Giggs is the obvious winner.

If the 'personality' bit is intended to be ironic, then Andy Murray, clearly...

So how did that work out then?

i always find it's to hard to predict it's not always the obvious or favorite who wins it

my favorite a few years back was that lass Elen MacArthur who broke the world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of a small yacht around the world and came close to death a few times, should have got it

on here own

....... of a lifetime achievement award, fair enough.

But it's not on long term appeal.

I thought it was 'Sports Personality OF THE YEAR' - he wasn't in the first 11 for quite a bit of that year and wouldn't have been in the top six of ManU Fans top players for last season (of which half was in this year).

Had they not shortlisted him NO-ONE would have chosen him as the person to represent the best of Manu for 2009, let alone the best of football for 2009.

Great bloke, great player.... lifetime award no problem. But this was as big a joke as was the 'Player of the Year' award he got.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

you know that was the point I was making, only more subtly?   It's not on 'looks' or 'personality' either :D
