New Ground latest piccies

On the Stadium web site, photos taken yesterday are now available for viewing, showing the near completion of the Main Stand roof steel work, the Community block steel started on the far side of the pitch, together with ancillary tasks like sewer work on the site's eastern side, and pipe work under the Main Stand.

Don't miss the shot of Christie Park as seen from the top of the seating terrace of the new Main Stand. When you stand there the old place justs appears round the Westgate gasholder !

..and yet another excellent photo update from MW.

Interestingly, some of the exterior metalwork on the main stand was delivered pre-painted in Red and some not....or was it painted on-site prior to being erected?

Great to see the Community section going up. A good bit of local PR?

Congrats also to Fat Media on the new web site and providing details of numbers per stand..a total stadium capacity of 6402. More than adequate for our present needs and beyond.

Unfortunate that from an aesthetic point of view that the stand opposite the main one, has had to be scalled down but no doubt with FL grants available at a later stage let's hope that the stadium can be completed as per the original plan. However from a cost saving point of view it was the logical area to make savings.

Posh and I have had an involvement in guidng the updates and improvements and a couple of our web developers here have done some good work. But, crucially, Graham Fagan, is overseeing it on behalf of the chairman. Volunteers are always appreciated and the work they've done is absolutely marvellous (the club is very lucky in that respect).

But it needs someone to keep track of it all professionally and really drive it forward and have an overview of the whole thing and Graham's done that.

Keep an eye on it because we intend for there to be more to come in coming months.
What struck me at the site - apart from how impressive the main stand is going to be, is the community building. It's a lot bigger than I thought from the bare plans and will be a really good facility for local individuals, groups and clubs who hire the sports pitches or just want to use the indoor exercise activities.

Should that be BRIAN Fagan, Glen ?

No Al. Brian's the director overseeing the new ground construction project. Graham is also working for the chairman/club and has been taking a personal role in updating the detail on the new stadium website and he'll be working on various things to drive more interest in the site, the ground and the club as part of the overall effort to make us more self-sufficient.

I did not think it possible to be excited by a load of girders. But for some bizarre reason I am, uncontrollably so in fact.

I keep thinking is this really us? like us? Morecambe? new ground, new future. This is going to be a very odd experience, like saying goodbye to a really faithful partner you've spent years of memories with and all the good times you've ever had along with the dissapointment that brings only to be told that you're on for a dead cert with Angelina Jolie ( or your other perfect equivalent)
