My tribute to Christie Park.

You were gave to us by JB Christie,
who sadly passed 80 years ago.
So we named you Christie Park,
so future generations would still know.

Though success was never instant,
untill the year 1925.
But after this was a struggle,
to keep our club alive.

We made it through the 50's,
and then in 1956.
The Auxiliary Supporters club,
in which Chistie Park they began to fix.

Success came on the field,
especially in 1974.
When we won at Wembley,
we couldn't ask for more.

The next decade went barren,
with Christie Park far from full.
But all bad runs come to an end,
things couldn't stay this dull.

Promotion saw us to the Conference,
whilst under Jim Harvey's reign.
Where we reached the FA cup 3rd round,
and played Ipswich in an historic game.

The North Stand standing proud,
Dagenham we did host.
A fully packed North Stand,
watched McKearney hit the post.

Our beloved stadium, our fortress,
in which teams began to fear.
In which we saw many a win,
would football league be coming here?

The North stand in full voice,
deafening in it's roar.
When time had stopped and all fell silent,
as we all watched Curtis score!

Christie Park erupted,
scenes of chaos and of glee.
Our manager Sammy Mcilroy,
is taking us to Wembley.

Exeter were our opponents,
out numbered us 2-1.
It was time to sing our hearts out,
It was time to have some fun.

'Stand up if you love Morecambe',
sounded around the ground.
A Danny carlton screamer,
football league, Christie Park had found!

A historic day for Morecambe,
our first football league game we said.
Barnet were our challengers,
against our boys in red.

A point in our first home game,
what a magnificant day.
We let the big boys in the league,
know the Shrimps are here to stay.

2 Seasons down the line,
each one as good as the last.
It's time to move from Christie Park,
but we won't forget our past.

A lot of spare time today!

well it was only a matter of time before he was pick up by one of the big 4 (not sure chelsea should be part of the big 4 after losing to little Wigan at the weekend 3-1 I think it was :D )
