Thanks so much everyone for your donations.

What really hit home about Mike was that he was only 34 years old - my age.

Thanks for your support

Matt

I mentioned it on the BBC blog. Someone replied that they had tried to donate but the Just Giving site was down, and it was down when I tried (both your link & Paul's). You might want to let them know if it keeps crashing.

Currently the messages have all been removed from the blog, don't know if they will re-appear. Mine may be removed permanently because it contained a link (against the rules) hopefully someone will use a bit of common sense.

Guys - prob the last time i'm gonna get online to say thanks before the big day on Sun - so thanks so much for the messages of support and donations - total so far stands at £390 - add on the gift aid stuff then it takes up to £490 give or take a couple of quid - only a tenner short of my target.

So, a very big

THANK YOU!

Good luck from a fellow runner! Another £10 added to your site too, a very worthy cause.

Wow, just like to say thanks to absolutely everyone who sponsored me/sent good luck messages etc,

completed the run in 1hr 54mins 55 secs, apologies - not the 1hr 30 I strived for - have a few excuses up my sleeve that i'll bore people with after a beer or two!!

Total raised was nearer the £600 mark after all the gift aid added in on top which more than makes up for my own personal disappointment.

Thanks again - you guys are brilliant.

I know you like a challenge Matty.

Well done, I'd have struggled to do that time on a bike!!!

I saw today the remnants of a Marathon more local, one the is reputed to be tougher.

Want the details?

I was going for 1hr 30 too, all my training and recent races suggested that I was more than capable. I ended up doing it 7 minutes slower than my last training run! I think the crowds and the heat in the middle of the course didn't help. I finished in 1hr 52.

I'm doing the Lancaster Half in November, that should be cooler, flatter and have a lot less participants! there's still places if you fancy it?

The contours of Tyneside take a lot of people by surprise. It's not an easy route by any means. Well done to both of you because it wasn't exactly cool yesterday :)
