Accy gate

Just over 1000 bothered to turn out for their home game v Walsall. OK not the most attractive of opponents but surely they deserve better from their town. Looked as though Walsall took about 150.

Not sure how many we took to PNE but was def more than 1000.

Really bugs me CC when fans of clubs(normally not our own) go on about attendancies at other clubs as though they are taking the p---, which normally occurs quite alot towards Morecambe. Bradford comes to mind as does Shrewsbury. Accrington were at home to Walsall and got a less than average home league attendance which is the norm for all clubs and would certainly occur if Morecambe were at home to Walsall on a Tuesday night in the 1st round.

I wasn't taking the p*** at all about our nearest and dearest. In fact even JC said on the radio when discussing the gate said 'makes you wonder if Accy really want a club'. With what they have had to go through this close season both on and off the field, they need their support to turn out in force week in and week out. I've got a lot of former work colleagues who support Accy and despite the expected banter between us, they still regard us as 'friends and neighbours'. There's no way that I'd ever meaningfully put Accy fans down!

Nearly 8,000 less at Preston than on Saturday in the league
Nearly 16,000 less at Cardiff
Nearly 2.300 less at Shrewsbury (home to a championship club)
1000 less at Crewe
etc etc etc

Means nothing at all. Its results that count.

the season we got promoted to the FL we still only drew a gate of under 3000 for the visit of Notts Forest - and they brought over a thousand.

I really wish Coley would give over bleating about the crowds - start winning and they will come (ish) but keep on banging on about it is never going to change things.

I didn't mean that you were taking the p--- CC and I apologise if that how it sounded but it really does bug me how fans think that because 1000's more turn out for there club it makes them better. It doesn't apart finance and atmosphere obviously, ask Bradford, Luton, Norwich, Oxford (all with big fan bases) if it really makes a difference. I feel very sorry for Accrington and think they do very very well considering, which is how others think of us.

It's a catch 22 for Coleman, He's running that team on fresh air whilst trying to keep the fans happy but unless the fans come and pay their hard earned he'll never be able to add the quality that will improve the side and attract more.

I find it incredible how he still manages to put out a team capable of winning matches, shows just how lucky you lot are

I've often wondered myself how he manages! I understand and sympathise with his situation - but it won't change whilst he/the club are berating the non-attending public for their no show.

In the years we have had a low league club the public have floated off to either Blackburn/Brunley or even further afield, and we'll only win that back in time by doing the right thing off the pitch for some years. Or by having a prolonged period of glory.

TH eproblem with our recent successes were that they were unexpected and each title win came on the back of two years of mediocrity. At no point did the public realise that something was happening until the inevitable media hype came two games away from a possible title. The following season brought with it a period of struggle.

The plus side for Morecambe was that you had a reasonably successful team for a good few seasons before you went up. As a club you had already established a thriving community set-up (which we are only now two years into) and it has given you a good base from which to work even though you have similar geographical and demographical problems to us.

Big up the little clubs I say! But it does annoy when fans of the so called bigger clubs enjoy taking pot shots at us smaller clubs (particularly us) when I personally think that genuine fans should applaud the fact that we can and have managed to succeed where bigger budgets/fan bases/stadia have all failed.
