Team For Hereford

Team For Hereford

Postby The Red Knight » Sun Aug 02, 2009 12:06 pm

So, with pre season now over what would be your team next week against Hereford (bearing in mind that Bentley and Hunter are still injured).

I would go with:

....................... Roche ......................

.........McStay ... Artell ... Adams ..........

.. Moss ................................. Wilson ..

.......... Duffy .. Drummond .. Stanley ......

...................... Craney ........................

...................... Jevons ........................

Subs: Davies, Parrish, McLachlan, Wainwright, Twiss, Taylor, Curtis

if everone was fit Bentley for McStay would be my only change to that. As it is Parrish for McStay would do for me.

An extra striker for me...in place of McStay, after all we are at home.

I don't think I can disagree with your line up mate. Obviously would like to see Jim back asap to lead the team, but if we're selecting on form then that would have to be the eleven. My only concern is that Mossy looks better in a four for me than a five. The good thing is that whomever Sammy selects we have a real level of adaptability from a selection and formation point of view, making us a lot less predictable. If that set of players click this season, there's no telling where it can take us.

......................................Roche............................

.............Moss...................Artell....................Adams

......................................Fraser.............................

Wainwright............Stanley.............Craney.........Duffy

...........................Jevons..............Twiss.............

Fraser in as a defensive midfielder to give some protection to the back line and break up the attacks, Wainwright and Duffy to give us the width, though as wing backs a lot would depend on their ability to get back and defend. Twiss to play alongside Jevons who should gain from the presence of somebody to play off and Craney pulling the strings in midfield.

throwing twissy in there hoping that he's gonna shine this season and possibly switch duffy with moss depending on how attacking sammy wants to be but other than that i think thats a pretty solid line up.

Somewhat suprised that Duffy isn't included from the start as (for me anyhow) he's been the most impressive of players to date. Come on leaps and bounds from last season. Only hoping that he can continue with that form and improve.

Not sure as somebody remarked about him being our first £1million player...but you never know.

Notts County could come knocking .......

for me
4 3 3
attack attack attack

think theyre lacking in the strikers so play four across the back

Roche

Moss Parrish Adams Wilson
Stanley McLachlan Drummond
Duffy Craney Jevons

almost a 4 2 4

maybe?

who knows

id abandon 5 at the back though if i were you and you were me

apologies if ive missed the obvious........

Not bad for you Sean but, i dont think Parrish is strong enough to play Centre Back and i dont think Wilson likes the wing back position , he looks more comfortable as a full back . So

Roache
Moss...... Drummy......Adams/Bentley.......Wilson

Wainy......Stanley.......Craney................Duffy

.....................Mr T....................

.....................Jevons...................
;)

Can't see us starting with Wainwright and Duffy together, I suspect a bit more caution, but we shall see

Hey Mark were at home , lets put them on the back foot from the off and give them something to think about . We wont score many goals being cautious and goals bring confidence . ;)

Yeah I know that, you know that but the way we set ourselves up I can't see us going gun ho at it from the offset. We are looking better going forward this time round and personally I think that is our best form of defence.

I will have a quid with you that Wainers and Duffs don't start together if ya like ;)

I've always thought that Drummy as a footballing centre half has a lot to offer, especially alongside 'Iron Man' Adams. Wilson is a full back who hasn't looked comfortable in the wing back position in my opinion.

I'm still hoping that we are after the additional striker.....

In the meantime, I'd go along with ParcelDave's selection.

If I win I get a quid but have to buy you a pint with it

I thought played well at wing back. I chose Parrish because we need some pace at the back. You could swap him for Mcstay though.
