Not the best performance but certainly not the worst. Duffy again looked class, stood out for me! These are friendlies and you can't really judge the team on how we are going to do, I'm confident that when we have Jimbo back, we'll look a very decent outfit - Just missing that extra striker :( (Taylor - sorry, but...... )

Barrow were very good all over the pitch really.
Still, we should be able to beat a bottom BSP side even when they're at their best.

Oh, and Duffy didn't put a foot wrong all game - fantastic.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.
Keep Parrish well away from centre half, loan Taylor out and get Jim fit quick!! Where to play Duffy next week could be a problem. He has to play but in what formation?

Thought Barrow worked really hard, chased everything and closed us down really well and fully deserved the victory, have to say their goal was due to a rare Roache error though. I like the look of our midfield more with Fraser Mc rather than Stew Drummond, he closes opposition play down really well when he came on and his distribution was steadier with a couple of really neat balls through the middle to the strikers today.

Duffy was excellent throughout but particularly when he went wide left. Craney and Jevons fairly quiet but I reckon that was more down to common sense than bad form, no point risking injury. Barrow keeper had a decent game, good save from a strong Jevons header, he'll get plenty of goals for us this season no worries there.
Need to sort Stanleys distribution too, a couple of times he pushed Craney aside in dead ball situations and his delivery from free kicks was very poor today.

Wainright looked promising on the right, I think we'll have a good season, plenty to be confident about from the other friendlies.

Wilson looked poor, in left midfield

Which is why he should be played in his proper position, surely.

Thank goodness the real business starts next week.

Let's hope that this weeks training encourages the lads to get more bodies into the box and to have a crack at goal when the opportunity presents itself.

Without doubt the introduction of Craney, Jevons and Duffy from the back end of last season have added a new dimension to the shape of the team, but as has already been shown Jevons is not a target man and unless we get somebody who can command the air Jevons will struggle to score goals on a regular basis. His exploits at Yeovil were the result of him playing off a big partner. One recognised striker at home is not the way.

For the first 20 minutes we stroked the ball about well but didn't really create many clear cut chances. A certain penalty went unrewarded which might have changed the course of the game, but credit to Barrow who look organised and disciplined.

Standing next to the dug out for the second half, it was noticeable the lack of instructions coming from the bench telling players to get into Barrow's box. Shades of last season?

Let's hope that pre-seasons results are not a prelude as to what is to come. Without doubt the pre-season results have been the the worst I can remember...but how many times have we had an excellent pre-season followed by an absolute dire season? Here's hoping for a reversal....

It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of Simply Ned or is he actually a certain photographer... :o :o :o :?: :?: :?:

Whoever Ned is would have to be close to Sammy to know some of the stuff they've posted.

I think Duffy looks good but wants to take a touch too many for my liking gets in good postions but passes rather than shoots- a bit "Bakeresque" in my opinion! Should have scored today when goaly was out of position but 1 touch too many and defence had closed him down a bit more confidence in front of goal and who knows..
