Just walk from the bus station.

To be honest you would be better off walking. Either cross at the lights, over Damside Street and up the hill, go right at the Judges Lodgings, up the cobbles, cross the road and up the cobbled path. Then over the hill to the left, over the railway bridge and your at Giant Axe. No longer than 10 mins walk.
Or go along Damside Street to the Millenium Bridge, up and over the old railway bridge and follow the cyclepath until the end, go under the railway bridge and your at the back turnstiles to Giant Axe. Flatter and about 10 minutes too.

Cross the bridge.
Turn right, walk 300 yards.
Turn left onto Lune Road.
Walk 100 yards.
First left onto Long Marsh Lane
2 minute walk, and its on your right.
10 minutes in total.
No pubs that way, unless you turn left when you've crossed the bridge, walk 150 yards, and you've got the Wagon and Horses, or slightly further the George & Dragon.
Cross the bridge.
Turn right, walk 300 yards.
Turn left onto Lune Road.
Walk 100 yards.
