Humiliating YES...but remember the season we beat Wolves?

We only just escaped relegation.

Don't read too much into pre-season results, although it'll be a shock to their pride.

We actually only just missed out on the playoffs!

Wolves got relegated.

I think people need to calm down.

One result in a friendly means nothing, and if anything, merely shows the aptitude (and attitude) of very well paid, pampered Premier League players. (I know they were relegated) These players don't have the stomach for a fight (apart from Barton) so when things are not going their way, they're more likely to capitulate than perhaps a lower league team would.

That said, I think it's also been a hell of a wake up call for them, and this could just be a turning point for them. It's the kind of scenario that creates one of these "Siege mentality" kind of situations. You know, everyones against us, wanting us to fail miserably kind of thing.

It's a critical time for the toon. If they grasp the siege mentality situation, they might do ok. On the other hand, if their players just want out like rats deserting a sinking ship, it could just be a very long, hard season for the toon fans.

As I'm sure most of you know, Newcastle's problems on the pitch are very much affected by their problems off them. No player is allowed to join or leave until Ashley has sold the club. Despite promising to get it over with quickly, he appears to be dragging his feet and they are already woefully underprepared for the season to come. By the way, that yellow stripey kit isn't as bad when you see it in the flesh.

Yes and transfer deadline day will be getting closer and closer while he hasn't sold it.
