Interesting quote from Jevons:

"We've got the new stadium to look forward to, the chairman's ambitious and we've got a well-respected manager."

Bearing in mind he's only here on a season loan and wouldn't be expected to play in the new stadium, it says a lot about his thinking and that maybe if he does well, and we do well, that he's looking beyond the loan? Or am I reading too much into it?

For me their attitudes towards the loan deals are excellent. Both want to play. Both are winners. Both are going to become fans favourites....oh and Ian..we can forgive you playing for Accy...just!

Welcome to 'our family'...

Looks like a trip to the Uni tomorrow.

Agreed. If they're as good as their words then they both seem to have precisely the attitude Sam and Lils are always looking for. Seemed great lads, the pair of them, and obviously impressed by what Morecambe are trying to do.

They BOTH had good offers from other clubs.

Is the season's loan ring-fenced, or can they be recalled at any time?
If the latter then it's always there in the back of the mind.

I stand to be corrected but I'm sure Jevons contract at Huddersfield ends in the summer of 2010 when we move to Westgate.

Yep, sorry I've just read the other thread.
Still a potential worry though.

The other way to look at it is that the only way they can gain is by playing well. A bad season and it'll be difficult to find a new club. A good one and they've more to choose from.

Loans have got their downsides but its what got Hereford United promoted.

P.S. They can be recalled from January on but Huddersfield have got a squad of over 30 players to choose from, so its unlikely.

They perform well for Shrimps.
In January they remain surplus to Huddersfield's requirements.
But another club jumps in with a decent offer, and contract.
What then?

Huddersfield recall them and sell them, ala Joe Lewis.

I wouldn't be suprised if there isn't a clause in the loan agreement that gives us first refusal should such a deal be proposed. But why worry? Our Board are no mugs and will be mindfull of the possiblity.

No. Joe was only on loan until the end of the year not the whole season.

The situation Peter describes I'm sure wouldn't happen as it would be covered by the contract and certainly not in the spirit of the agreement.

From what I understand Huddersfield Town agreed the deal with us at the weekend. When others became aware of what was happening other clubs came in with offers. In all cases both Huddersfield Town and the two players themselves rejected them irrespective of whether they were better terms or not.

I think that says an enormous amount for Huddersfield Town's board, the commitment of the players (we know that with Ian Craney how he honoured the offer from Accy over a better deal from us when he left Alty) and also our club for selling themselves well. If it began in that kind of spirit I'm sure it will continue like that.

And that solves a problem with the central defence too as Drummy will be perfect for that position , as a lot of people seem to think we have too many midfielders . ;)

Agee with you about Drummy in defence. Seem to recall a certain manager saying that that role was made for Drummy.
