I hope it's not us that's far to much money for untried players at this level.

I'm sure Peterborough and Wolves fans said the same when they signed Lewis, Boyd, McLean and Kightly.

I don't know if it's us or not (I suspect not because our last contact with them was a kind of 'okay we'll look elsewhere') but they are both highly-rated young players so, whoever it is, they may investing wisely.

Just as a matter of interest t'other one is a left sided full back who has played in midfield. Previously had 40 games in the league with Brentford before eventually ending up on a season long loan with 'fleet.

To all those who have been pressing for a left sided wing back.....??????????

Personally I can't see it being us, but it will all become clear once the 'fleet fans have had their vote on the joint offer this Wednesday.

;) ;) ;)

Style of play, Charles' preferred position is centre-back, but he can also play left-back and left-midfield

GRAB HIM!

He only scored 13 goals in a season at lower level , thought they would have leared their lesson with M. Carr

Exactly and how much did we pay baker was the inital payment £30k and surley he can't be as good as Baker.

Contradictory statements, surely.

Baker was untried at League Two level but would you say £40k was too much if we'd paid that for him?

Will Gash end up being a good player at League Two level? Who knows - but that's what being a manager's all about. They all win some and lose some - the better ones win more than they lose.

Anyway, as I say, I'm pretty sure it's not us.

There's a suggestion that it's a Conference club.

- We have offered 42k which was rejected and so we said we won't be making another offer. On the other hand, this defender looks interesting and a combined offer for two players could be a kind of a compromise from us.

- I think its a little unlikely that we would be spending that kind of money at this point. Although maybe this is surplus cash from the Sainsbury deal we are using.

It could be us or York city - it says that 40 thousand paid up front then 40 thousand to be paid in January

12 goals a season in a BSP side is a bit underwhelming but those two players are the best at the club and together make up half the clubs wage budget. The rest of the squad looks really bad so maybe Gash just needs a better platform to perform on.

Hope your right Glen , i hope we can get a hard to come by proven goal scorer and somone who can get the ball to him pls. A goal surplus this season rather than a deficit would be better for us all and improve the gate too

I don't think its us.

its hard enough persuading one Southerner to re-locate , never mind two !

our bid was £20k now with the balance in January and June.

I would rather we use the Gash bid for a signing on fee for Pawel Abbot. ;) ;) ;)

I would be shocked if it was us but football is a strage game and anything can happen

I'd get that idea out of your head. There will be absolutely no money left over from the Sainsbury's deal with every penny committed to the new stadium and clearing our debts. Also the board are forecasting another six-figure loss (£200K at least) for the coming season at Christie Park. Shows how important it is that we get to the new stadium and start creating new revenues so we can buy the players some people are talking about, as most of them are out of our reach financially.

There is a rumour it could be Exeter City as they have just sold Dean Moxey to Derby County for £350,000. Mind, it is only a rumour!

A few posters on here were saying that we are making a profit on the Sainsbury's deal and that there was some cash spare for transfers - is this untrue?

The York City boss is after two players including a "left sided centre back" - Darius Charles?

Rumour is that its a conference club so I think its almost certainly York.
