Todays Game

A solid performance I thought overall, although perhaps their goalie played a part in our goals. A couple of players impressed me - Parish and Wainright. Surprised Howe did not play. The strikers worked hard and had some good efforts. It will be interesting who are the first choice srikers. I would definitely have Stanley in my starting line up. Jim and Artlell looked solid in central defence but Adams looked slow although as usual compensated with his skill. Gary Hunter had a good game today and hope he gets a bit of a run in the team. I would like to see one more attacking midfielder in the squad

I also thought todays performance was very good, although Carlisle UTD seemed half asleep at times. We could of won 4 or 5 - 1 ; I was talking to a couple of Carlisle fans I know post match and they were pretty impressed with us. There were several good individual performances Hunter, Parrish and although I'm not his biggest fan Blinkhorn - there was plenty of effort from every player today. Even the subs that come on Curtis , Stanley played well.

I thought Blinkhorn was superb today, he won a lot of the ball in the air against some big lads and ran his socks off for the team as usual, he links well with the DOC and has a great attitude in my opinion, I think once the season gets underway there will be some excellent partnerships up front and lots of goals to come.

Keep it on the deck and we will out football most teams.

Play high balls out of defence and we loose out percentage wise. The number of high balls played to Blinks resulted in us loosing possession and therefore, crucially, the control passed to Carlisle.

Impressed every time i see O'Carrol. He's gonna be a handfull this season.

Wainwright although not a speed merchant is more of a complete player than Thommo for me and never stops working both on and off the ball. Carr just gets better and better and Roach....NI's No1 !

My analysis ;) ...

Roche - Made some good saves, another good performance.
Parrish - Solid performance.
Adams - Didnt have much to do but was tidy when on the ball.
Artell - Pretty solid, made some passes through the midfield and took his goal well.
Bentley - Good performance. Strong at the back as ever, commanding the line.
Wainwright - MoM for me. Excellent. Took on players and beat them, worked hard.
Carr - Played out of position but worked quite hard. A good performance.
McLachlan - Did make a few mistakes but again, worked hard to keep possesion.
Hunter - Played well, breaking up play alongside McLachlan and grafting away. Strong performance.
O'Carroll - Bit quiet today, I thought, but had a couple of good touches.
Blinkhorn - Worked hard, good effort.

And is it just me, or has DC improved since we had him?

...it's what you do with the pace that really counts.

Some players have plenty of pace but no finished product.

As for DC.....nice touch North Stand 'there's only one etc etc etc'...not on the field long enough to see if he's got better but wouldn't mind having him back some day soon to see for ourselves.

Here, here! Parrish linked well with Wainwright. AP overlapping on the wing taking the defender with him gave NW chance of cutting inside. NW not as quick as GT but gives us far more options.

A good do in JB's yesterday. Thanks to Chorizo and Morecambe Bay Wines. - That Rod Taylor and the crew put so much time and effort into the Club that goes un noticed.... Thnks also to Mark Lillis and his wife for attending the Sunday League presentation - a gentleman as ever, so pleased he stayed with us :D

Too many of our players thought they could turn up and win without trying.

Own goal was totally the fault of our new goalkeeper, who I was close to telling to sod off back to Crewe at one point. He came off his line and made no shout whatsoever (like the entire first-half), defender has no choice but to head it with a striker behind him.

I am now going into administration after buying a few rounds in the York Hotel at a mind-numbing £5.70 for two pints.

All the Carlisle lads I knew in the army never moaned on about the price of a pint - why dont you go off to a working mans club with formica tables, plastic chairs and moaning old gits - great place to drink a pint. If you dont like the price in decently run tennanted houses vote out the govt at the next election .

We had troubles with our goalkeeping situation last season so i can sympathise with you but we had more to moan about than a pint of beer i can tell you! We are off up to Carlisle this evening and i will bet it will be nearer £4 a pint and no doubt out of a plastic glass ;)

Just shows ya its cheaper not to get married!

Amsterdam last week 9 Euro for a pint of Strongbow 8 Euro Pint of Amstel (5 Euro for a half so she had to drink pints  ), 4.50 for a shot of vodka and 3.50 for a bottle of coke to go with it. 4 drinks cost us 32 euros - could have gone down the canal for less than that

£2.10 for a Fosters in the club bar at Brunton (I think) so no wonder you got a bit of a shock.
your very lucky, its £2.70 a pint of Carling in our club bar now. :(

I'm not having a winge about JB's before anyone has a go, im just pointing out how cheap Carlisle's club is. (and it doesn't have "formica tables, plastic chairs and moaning old gits ")

BTW

Great match Saturday, thought we looked more of a solid settled outfit compared to some of the other friendlies and it was good to see Danny getting a warm welcome back from the Northstand. We made more noise for him comming on and scoring then they did!
