Unless they invest similar amounts in defence, pretty long ones.

Silly money, he's worth only slightly less than Newcastle according to that valuation.

That sounds about right

But on a serious note I agree, this is silly money. It's funny to think that the premier league being the richest league in the world can't compete as all the foreign owners have put the big clubs in debt. United can't go out and spend halve that due to all the debt the Glaziers have put the club in. FCUM anyone?

Real Madrid are probably in more debt that Utd, just no one is brave enough to call the debts in.

True but Ronaldo is 3 years younger and would probably sell more shirts.

I'm not a financial expert believe it or not. I was merely suggesting a reason why Ronaldo has cost more than Kaka.

Please don't tell me anyone is surprised by this.

And you may as well get used to it.

Chelsea will throw millions more at it for a couple more years and, when it still doesn't bring them that stupid Champions' League bauble, Roman will be off and leave it all to the Yanks and Arab owners to flaunt their wads at each other.

Someone may wake up to what's happening in a few years and stand up to the cartels at the top of our game - by scrapping any competition that GUARANTEES a certain number of games and a certain amount of TV revenue to the lucky few - but I wouldn't hold your breaths chaps.

I am, now, officially fed up with repeating my rants so that's my last contribution to this or any other similar thread.

(Sighs of relief all round) :D

I might do a MarkS and bookmark this thread just for that quote. I've no doubt it will come in handy when Spurs have lost the their first half dozen games of the new season. :D

Good piece of business by United. Buy for £12.5million, sell for £80 million.

I only wish this news had broken closer to the start of the season, or after millions of cake-takers had purchased the new dickhead spotting device (Man U shirt) with Ronaldo's name on the back.

Can't see why United can't buy Tevez now. Here is a guy who actually wants to play for United.

I reckon they will have plenty to spend if required, they can exist quite happily with huge debts (long term)as campdave said, as the brand is massive and the merchandising is huge.
Just wonder who they've got lined up in the wings, as theres no way they are going to let this go through without someone lined up. Sickening to think though that some agent is probably going to make more in one day than the cost of our new stadium. :x

The sad thing is Utd will buy someone when all they have to do is look at their youth.
Bloody silly really.
I'd pay the debt off and start putting money in the bank.
When fergie goes if Moyes isn;t the new gaffer it'll all go sour.

Apparently Real are planning to pay up to £300M on Players this summer  In this financial climate you would think of this as financial suicide but they will make that back and probably more over the course of the season due to Tickets and Merchandise. also I found out the other day that Real Madrid own their TV rights so they earn over £100M in TV Revenue
and if it goes wrong at any point the im sure florentino perez can bail them out with his personal wealth standing at a comfortable £1.8bn

June 2008
Fergie ( about Real )
" I wouldn't sell that lot a virus "
( to Ronaldo )
" Look you ungrateful little *****,(Maybe not that bit first then ) - I hate those gits in Madrid, but keep quiet for twelve months and give me one more year & you can have your wish to sod off there "

June 2008 > June 2009
Ronaldo - silence

June 2009
Fergie - silence

Fair enough, he can go. Why keep a player who isn't motivated to play for the team anymore? Sound financial sense. And unfortunately Tevez is going elsewhere. Don't question the manager.

However, United could buy most of the Liverpool team now at bargain bin(-dipper) prices.

In the scouse reds there's only 2 worth buying, Gerard wouldn't go and I don't expect Torres would either ;)

Also, Real give money to the "City"(Madrid) when they are flush, and get it back when they need it! Nice arrangement.......
