Congrats to Mark Dixon on his appointment as the clubs first Commercial Director.

It's a hard act to follow in the footsteps of Peter Howard, but Mark with his proven commercial background and already a Director of the Club, it's a logical move for the club to make.

The next 18 months are crucial to the longevity of our club and Mark's role will be fundamental in fulfiling and exceeding expectations.

Hopefully this will now see the club compete more evenly on a commercial level with other clubs, an area we've been found wanting for far too long.

Sorry but that's a bit unfair on Peter.

He did an excellent job on very limited resources and it will be interesting to see if all the local contacts that he made and who became benefactors to our club will still look on the club in a favourable light.

A new man at the helm brings new ideas to the table; sometimes at the expence of the existing. In the commercial world people buy into other people more and more and it's down to ones personality and the ability to communicate at all levels of the business sector that delivers results.

It all depends on how Mark projects himself to those clients who Peter has fostered over the years. From personal experience, some of my clients have moved with me from company to company because they couldn't strike a relationship with whoever took over from me at the previous company. Mark's been in the commercial sector long enough and successful enough to know how these things work.

I would guess that Peter will go round all his contacts and introduce Mark to them.

Great appointment. He's a youngish guy who appears very streetwise so is possibly that new young blood is what's needed. If he's been a national manager for a product like Ping, he's got a very high calibre background.

Onwards and upwards I reckon.

To quote yourself...

I've said it before, we are just not at the races when it comes to marketing the club and the lateness of the season tickets is a prime example.

They should be on sale the back end of last season....like a lot of other clubs.

:( :( :(

Either you simply do just talk out of your arse or... :D

Maybe someone from club could come on here and clarify when season tickets will be on sale - i know this sounds strange but season is only about 58 days away

I feel this is an area in which the club have let themselves down in over recent years. I am sure Peter did the best he possibly could of, but you can`t exist on sportsman dinners alone. I have never heard of major contracts been made, relying on the name of our chairman I feel at times, lets admit it we just seem to be not very good at promoting our club on the commercial scene and now that the club has to be more professional on all levels it was only a matter of time before the old guard began to be replaced. I personally can see a few more old faces been moved aside to take the club forward, it is the only way we will progress. Players are replaced season on season and nobody bats an eyelid, when it happens behind the scenes I feel that some people wear rose tinted spectecles. This club must move forward and if that means people are replaced then so be it. The club must move forward in all areas, whether it is the community foottball side or ground staff, down to our admin people, you need to have the best providing a service to match that on the pitch and at present I personally feel that is not happening.

This sounds like a complaint to me?

Peter did a great job and is making way for Mark which i don't think anyone is complaining about and is probably addressing your concerns. So, why complain?

Not a complaint at all, just my own personal opinion that there are some areas in which the club let themselves down. For example I have wrote to the club 4 times in the last two years regards my Football club and certain requests and I have not recieved an answer or even acknowledgement to any of my letters, I can live with it but does not reflect well on the club in "my opinion".
