Transfer activity...Thursday 4 June

..or more accurately the lack of it, seems to be widespread in League 2 at the moment. It appears looking in from the outside, that clubs and players are holding out for better terms, both ways. Clubs don't have the cash to throw around whilst players and their agents would appear to be living in cloud cookoo land if they continue to expect salaries greater than clubs can afford.

No doubt as pre-season looms even closer, players will have to be more realistic about their demands, otherwise they could find themselves without a club.

Last year in June there were 4 transfers in the first two days, this year there has been 8. Consider yourself shot down in flames.

The first two days in June last year were a Sunday and a Monday.

Not exactly the most of common days for footballers to sign contracts. They've normally sorted everything out by Friday, to sign before the week-end.

Beware the phoenix, rising.

The major players in the market appear to be Rotherham who have today agreed a fee with Crewe to buy their leading striker from last season. In addition to also taking Ellison they seem to be making a real push for promo this season. Other than that nobody has really signed anybody of significance. Those strikers who are on variuos SVs 'wish' lists are still avaialble it would appear...as is Charnock!

I wonder why?

I would expect Rotherham to be right up there this season, if not automatics then deffo play offs.
About time Bratfud fulfilled their potential also.
Interesting to see how Burton do, they jittered themselves up at the end of the season and seemed to lose their way after cloughie left.
I would of course love to see us in the mix, last season we played some excellent football but inconsistency was our big problem.
Going against popular opinion I think we have the squad to do very well, the manager with the intestinal fortitude to get the job done, and a supportive board.
Now if onlywe could find 2.5K home supporters every week.

Well maybe if we got ourselves a proven goalscorer and a provider we might attract a few more to come through the gates :?

Big crowds dont always get you success just ask Leeds or newcastle or norwich all relegated recently with average crowds 25000 plus and teams like burnley and scunthorpe promoted with small gates

of course, but they do need supplying, a couple of players who could cross first time quality balls across the goalmouth would do for starters, although Duffy hasnt had his chance on the right yet, and come to think of it nor as Wainwright :?

Plenty of time still to do some serious business.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if we signed a couple in the very near future. ;) ;) ;)

Rotherham have today signed ex Lancaster striker Tom Pope for 150.000 from Crewe :o

Why do people get so impatient? We will sign players when they are available, if Sammy wants them, if they want to sign for Morecambe and when it has all been completed. Be patient :!: The mighty Shrews (not) offered new contracts two weeks ago to Ben Davies, Kelvin Langmead, Steve Leslie, Chris Humphrey, Darren Moss and Omer Riza with an instruction that they had to give an answer by Tuesday just gone. None of them have done yet as they are 'keeping their options open', which means to me that they want away from Shrewsbury but if no one else wants them then they'll stay. From a fans point of view that stinks! I would now want rid!!
But you just see its not easy being a player or a manager at this time of year unless you have money to burn which from all accounts Notts County may well have soon if they get bought out by:
Munto Finance Limited, a consortium of Middle Eastern Financer's who have reportedly already purchased Britains Oldest League Football Club and have allocated 'vast' amounts of money for Transfers?
Move Over Notts Forest, as County are coming through :!:

If we got Lawrence Wislon from Chester, then Duffy or Wainwright could switch.

Pope was not an ex Lancaster striker. He spent a short time on loan from Crewe at Giant Axe. He must have been a very naughty boy !
