This maybe a groundless rumour but I overheard a conversation in the stands last season that there were several board members willing to put up their own cash to fund the purchase of Joe but one board member wouldn't and they couldn't reach the asking price.
If thats true then I bet they are kicking themselves now!
Pure speculation I might add and no names were mentioned.
