A couple of excellent aerial shots of the cleared Westgate site are now on the above.

Not sure if Gnasher was strapped to a powered micro-lite piloted by Martin Hodgson to take 'em though. ;) ;) ;)

I believe the MBI's offered to send Gnasher up in a micro-lite

I've played at Westgtes ground twice before. It's an OK pitch.

What were you playing, golf?

The pitch my lad played on was awful, the first time we played there we lost two kids in the muddy puddle it was that deep!!

I played footy and it didn't have a puddle of mud when I went. Both times the pitch was a bit hard.

I believe piling work is to start soon, get the feeling that they will be going down pretty far.

It's served us well for all these years....but all good things have to come to an end.

I always thought that we'd be really constrained by Lancaster Road in developing the Car Wash side of the ground. Looking at that picture there seems ample room, but probably not for all the other facilities the club are building at Westgate. Makes you wonder why Sainsbury's are so keen to have the plot (the way it was reported it appeared a great deal for MFC). I know location wise it is probably more central to the town, but I can't see the store that gets built being that big.

It will be sad when we finally leave though.

That's a great shot! No doubt in a year time someone will get a snap of Christie at the last ever game and make a lot of money selling the image. I will certainly have one. :D

Christie Park site is larger than Sainsbury's Deedale site at Preston and is comparable with that at Bamber Bridge. Could be wrong ( ) but may even be comparable with the Asda site on Morecambe Road.

the club could make a few quid by having one of those aerial shots of the ground done at our last home game (as long as its not a night game !) and selling them framed at £25 each.

it wasn't so much the land constraints (although the long lease on the Car wash would be a problem) so much as where would the cash come from to develop that side of the ground without the sale of the land.
Also at Christie we would still have been left without proper training pitches or the other money making franchises etc.

They aren't the club's photos, or mine, to do anything with.
