They could be edging closer and Chester would then remain in League 2
"If Darlington was to go into liquidaton before June 12, Chester City would start next season in League Two despite finishing the season in 23rd position.
If, however, Darlington was to go into liquidation after June 12, next season’s League Two would comprise only 23 clubs. "Nightmare scenario:

If Chester go into administration, I don't think they should be reinstated - would be better IMO if Luton took Darlo's place in that case.

Agreed.
Farcical. Chester should be in administration by now anyway if they were being honest.
Feel sorry for their fans, whatever, but they shouldn't be able to keep their League status as a result of another club coming clean about its financial problems.
Having said that - having Chester in our division next season would leave only one relegation place open.
....which would be good news for Notts County.

Relegation should mean relegation, end of. Anyone manipulating the administration rules should be relegated as well. Let's have some more fresh blood up from the conference, it might make some teams stop screwing with the rules.

You mean Torquay and Cambridge then? Hardly fresh blood, in that case.

Not this year but it would give a massive incentive to conference clubs not to just end the season mid-table if they thought there was a chance more than 2 can go up.

Oh I dunno, it could be that, on realising an extra promotion place could potentially be up for grabs, they attempt to escape mid-table mediocrity by investing heavily in pursuing success but this this backfires dramatically leaving them on the cusp of administration....

totally agree with ghasher
remember we all vociferously campaigned forthree up three down for a long time
now were in the league no different for me
lets hope we get three up three down asap
if darlo go out of business then tough that stheir problem
chester and luton are down end of and shouldnt get any reprieve
if darlo go then i suppose now it should be one less club next season and three up three down following season

if Darlington go under, promote the two finalists from the Conference, relegating three from the League.
