Impressed with Lancaster and in particular their No3 Marshall.

Full time training and you never know......

As for us, liked Jomathon Smith and is Yatesy being groomed as a replacement for DA?

Only concern is the form of McCann. Surley he's not a full back?

Excuse my ignorance but wasn't tonight's No2 McCann? Thought he had a bit about him, especially towards the end of the game. Does anyone have the numbers everyone played in last night so I can work out who is who?

mCaan still does not look up to scratch,eg in last 20 minutes he was beaten several times quite easily by lee dodgson a former shrimp.Presumable sammy is forming his opinion as he knows yatesys capabilities already hence playing him at left back
lancaster did look quite uesful did not look that much difference in class even though our 2nd string

IMO Drummy took his chances well, Yatesy decent, Scott Davies only made one real mistake.

I thought Twiss, Drummy, Yates and Davies played well.

I'll reserve negative comments on others until i've seen them play a bit more football, don't want to knock anyone's confidence before the start of the season proper.

can Twissy be convinced to become a left winger?

He didn't show much of the strong maze-y runs last night that we know he is capable of, even against supposedly weaker defenders, and it's always a disappointing when he begins to drop his head. He provided a few good corners though and the cross for Matty to score. He made space for a shot with a run along the edge of the box but shot wide. I think he needs to get his head into positive mode. From what I've seen so far this pre-season, Wayne has the edge over Twissy. Maybe the Bury thing has been a distraction. We know what a good 'thinking' footballer he is, so maybe with the strength and skills Rene has shown, they could make a formidable partnership.

Yeah Neil Marshall is a quality player and he got player of season last season.
Hes got it all really as a left sided player, strong in the tackle and can bomb forward.
He can defo play at a much higher level.
We Should be pushing for promotion this season!

To be honest i thought Twiss still looked a shadow of his former self, his confidence seems to have deserted him, a couple of good moments but that was all.

Smith worked hard but doesnt appear to have much pace, his first touch didn't seem that good either.

Taylor on the other hand looked very sharp good control with the ability to make a chance on his own, was a promising player last time i watched him play but has improved again since then.

Team work certainly suffers in these games with so many different starting line ups, the understanding that comes with playing together for a long period of time just isn't there which is understandable.

Looking forward to Saturday when we will probably see Sammy's starting line up for the coming campaign.

How much higher?

Hope Lancaster do well this season, but I think (and this isn't to wind the dollies looking at this up) they will now always be in our shadow, with too big a gap between the two clubs in every respect.
