In all honesty, if we maintain about 2/3rds of the form that we've been playing in the last 18 games then we should be in with a decent shout!

I think playoffs are a more realistic hope and I think it would be presumptious to the point of idiocy to assume we're safe from a relegation battle next season.

If we keep on the road we're on though, I can only see a good future for MFC! :D :D :D

Too right. We were about 13 points behind the playoffs not too long ago and we got right up into the action there. If we can get that form going earlier in the season we'll be in with a shout.

My one and onlt wish (well, of the ones which are legal) is that people would stop banging on about this. We've done well, can we not just enjoy it without putting more expectation and pressure on the team?

I don't think fans are putting any pressure on the players. No Morecambe fan will be disappointed come the end of the season, even if we were to lose our next two games. However this optimism I think will be shared with the players. Most if not all will be thinking in the back of their minds "what if....". The players will want to win and will want to get in the play-offs. They (including Sammy) might say in the paper or in other media outlets that our play-off challenge is over but I wouldn't be surprised if Sammy mentioned to the players at 2:55 on saturday that you never know in football.

Weeks ago people were going on about the play-offs. there are some players who read this forum, and they must know about other terrace comments, or even from fans just talking to them. If you don't think that puts pressure on them you're a fool. Expectation is for Man Yoo and Liverpool supporters. We should be just enjoying the ride at the moment until the time when our manager says we are pushing for promotion by judgement, not largely by luck as has been the case this season.

Pressure can be good, players need to get used to it for when the truly big games come around.

I'm sure the players prefer the pressure of a possible play off place than that of pressure in securing league survival.

If we are putting pressure on them then they have responded superbly.

whether we make the play-offs or not ( I personaly think we might just miss out, but not because of a lack of effort) then next season will be extremely tough. we'll be up against teams that have just missed out this season and those who are in a false position now because of points deductions, not least Rotherham. The good thing about at least having been in with a shout for the play-offs is that the club can go out and attract better players.

As has been said though, whichever way you cut it, we are going to finish our second ever season of league football with a record points haul, hopefully with our highest position, with a very bright future free of debt and with a new stadium.

It's been another great year to be a morecambe fan.

This will depend on if the Board allow Sammy extra finances. As much as I'd like us to start life in the new stadium in Div1, securing another season in the league and THEN going for it in season 2010 /11 is more logical in my mind.

Mind you, given the chance for promotion this time next season I wouldn't complain!

;) ;) ;)

better players doesn't have anything to do with promotion to league 1 merely that better players, even for squad use will improve us overall. rather that than get to next january and end up releasing players that haven't cut it for sammy.
