"City rue the goal that never was" is the headline
"Thorne met Law’s kick with a powerful low header which Roche fumbled on his line – and appeared to let the ball roll behind it.
The players and fans were certainly adamant that it had gone in and started to celebrate but referee Nigel Miller looked to his assistant to make sure and when no confirmation was forthcoming, he allowed play to go on." is the part they refer to.
But then later:
They almost got an equaliser with four minutes left when a cross bounced up invitingly for Jones ghosting in at the far post. But his header was poor and he glanced wide – it was a gilt-edged chance gone begging.
So they miss a gilt edged chance, which had they scored would have levelled it. But instead of rueing their gilt edged opportunity which they weren't good enough to convert, they revert to a refereeing decision as the excuse...
I think they should concentrate more on shooting practice, and less on moaning practice...

I was in a perferct position, just to the right of goal, to see whether it was over the line or not. And I can say, uncatagorically that it was NOT over the line. Their keeper spilled the ball, but then managed to trap it as it was ON the line. About half of the ball was over the line, but its only a goal if all the ball is over - correct decision by the ref and linesman. We weren't robbed, we weren't good enough !
As much as I admire McCall, and I will continue to support him, it is becoming a difficult task.
