Someone will have the answer.

Just been chatting with Hodgy, we were discussing Stockport County and their, apparently, pending administration.

When we "sold" Carl Baker to them what were the financial arrangements?

We don't think they paid an outright sum for his services, more likely an agreement about installments was entered into.

Were they to go into administration in the coming week, how much would we have lost? What would the option to get the player back for next season, or re-sell if he wasn't keen on that situation, be?

If, say for example, they had not yet paid 50% of the fee.
Would we be entitled to "re-call" the player?

What sell-on fees would we have already paid Southport?

Massive knock-on effects when you think about it.

..now that's what I call 'food for thought'.....

An excellent post and worthy of serious debate, but one I suspect the legal eagles will have a field day with.

I'm pretty sure the deal consisted of £175,000 which would rise to £225,000. I thought the 175k was paid up front but possibly not.

If they do go into administration, I believe we will end up getting a % of any fee owed to us. Where that leaves us with any fees to Southport, I have no idea

Football League rules state that when a club goes into administration all 'football related' debts must be paid first. Failure to do this could/would mean expulsion from the league. this includes debts to other clubs, players, the FA/FL etc etc. This has caused some major issues in the past particularly at Leeds when they owed huge amounts of cash to ex players i.e. Fowler, Seth Johnson.

I think we've received every penny we were due on Baker sadly. Charlie did the deal not Liam, otherwise he'd have cost you more! ;)

We had the very same debate at Fat Knackers tonight and, Mick, none of us had the answer!

I think you're right. I think there were 'appearance' add-ons but no sell-on.

As for Stockport I understand that there is one payment still outstanding but if Stockport get into real bother then the Football League would pay us what we're owed (and any other outstanding 'football' debts would be paid to Stockport's creditors) instead of giving Stockport any sponsorship or other payment for their performance in the league.
