It seems that the club intends to close the 'berlin wall' for most games next season,this is where my family members have stood since we moved grounds! We like being there as we can look at the opulent main stand as the backdrop to the game and we are very close to the pitch and we can advise the liner when they get things wrong,which is often.This must be the easiest and cheapest stand for stewarding and catering.It really would be sad to lose this facility,there are lots of family groups on this terrace and it is very safe for the younger fans.

Wow so if there is a low away following we will be a two sided ground!!

I really think this would be an own goal as a club. I suspect there will always be at least a couple of hundred wanting to stand there and it would require minimal staff to open. If we are non-league, do we even need segregation between the home end?

If we close the Berlin Wall we may see long term regulars drift away and not just move to another stand.

I think the club have got it wrong with the hunkering down, reduce costs and raise prices strategy. There's still the opportunity to grow or at least maintain the home support if we can get some positivity on and off the pitch.

Is this a rumour that has just got out of hand?
I've not seen anything official from the club.

The club will have to employ staff, I would think it would be only a little saving, for a FAN having such a great view point.
My suggestion is (if rules permit in the national league) is let fans who buy a standing ticket, stand on the Berlin Wall or go behind the goal. Just have it as one big standing area and spread the staff accordingly.

It is a great shame if it is shut, pressure on the Club to go home and think again.

Once you have been in the EFL you have to stick with those segregation, changing ends and drinking rules even if you drop down

Everybody will agree that we need to reduce our outgoings BUT to close the Berlin Wall is totally wrong. Surely the cost saving will be so minimal that it would be a complete waste of time judged against the wishes of those who have stood there since we moved into the Maz.

There needs to be an explanation or even better a consultation with those who prefer to stand there in all weathers and to date have never complained about getting wet or nearly freezing to death when the weather is that bad.

Closing it without even a discussion could be an immense own goal and one that for the minimal benefit surely can't be worth it?

If the club are intent on saving costs then maybe this forum could come up with a number of workable suggestions....


For instance do we really need the current number of stewards when it is expected that away support will be reduced....

After all when we were n the National league last time the number of stewards was no way near the number in the EFL.

The club obviously have to plan for the drop in numbers due to relegation , plus the NAPM factor.

Although, it may be that NAPM, could be taken as AFPL (a few pennies less)...where fans could pay less for tickets by going in the Berlin wall , stick to their pledge , and still watch the team.

I heard that the new REFORM councillors want it to be renamed the "English wall", and its going to be so beautiful...

At Christie, I'm fairly sure it was the Ipswich match when they were flying high in the premier league that they had to segregate and once those fences were in place, they had to stay. Unless you could charm a steward

If the Club is considering shutting the Berlin Wall I agree you are penalising the fans who stand there, I stood there on and off for several yrs before I went season ticket on there for 3yrs. I transferred with my friends behind the goals in the Halo, it’s not the same. When your in the ground and both the away end being shut and the Berlin Wall shut the ground definitely looks and feel completely different. The atmosphere gets affected.
