Has anyone seen the story about the content creator that has taken over at Daisy Hill.

So I have been doing a bit of groundhopping this season and fancied a trip down there last night as it was a local derby against top of the league. No idea about the recent takeover etc. There were 850 people there it was chaos!!! All the social media types filming each other.

The guy has done a YouTube video on the day he took over going round the ground and showing you what he wants to improve. To be fair he seems to have good ideas, mainly about getting sponsorship in and make small improvements to tidy the ground up. There is even a gofundme page to raise money for a new pitch which has raised 4k already.

I think he sees his job as promoting the club as much as possible and with that extra exposure people will want to get involved and it's easy to attract more sponsors.

Just makes you think times are changing and maybe clubs need to do more things like this to create investment.

Good luck to them anyway apparently they were struggling to see out the season and thought they would have to withdraw from the league.

Nail on the head. The days are long gone when clubs can rely on "Lifetime" supporters and play the emotional blackmail card to get them to keep buying tickets, merchandise and refreshments for a captive audience. So many clubs have a, quite frankly, pathetic attempt at refreshments with poor choice, poor food, slow service, etc.

We're in a new era these days with social media and "customers" (which is what supporters are) want a better experience for their (ever increasing cost) of tickets etc. There's got to be an element of "fun" for your day out, not grumpy stewards, queuing for 20 minutes to buy a pie, broken toilets, etc.

Social media is the future, along with far better communications, including lots of different channels, different formats. Fans don't want that much really, they just want to be part of it, feel valued, feel that they're not just being used as a cash cow.

I remember going to Daisy Hill for a night cup match when we were in the Northern Premier League. It was cold, raining and other than the result a night to forget.

I remember going in the Lancashire cup Sammy was manager but let Jim take the team for experience. It was absolutely freezing that night.

ken H the food and service at these places is great and all well run with volunteers and committees. They put our so called professional setup to shame

They are Boltons only non-league club after Horwich RMI moved to Leigh.

And they have been going 130 years and never been promoted or relegated.
