Yesterdays gate

Postby Christies Child » Sun Mar 15, 2009 10:13 am

Was very surprised (but obviously pleased) that the gate was as good as it was considering that they only brought around 90 fans with them.

1900 was certainly more than I expected but just goes to show that if you have a successful team ON the pitch, it can be reflected in the number of spectators OFF the pitch. Still far below what we need to break even but it shows an improvment over previous weeks, especially v Bury when the home fans numbered less than 1500. Maybe those stay away fans are being tempted to 'come on down' once again.....following the excellent performances v Daggers and obviously Bury.

Worth pointing out that the kids from Lancaster Rd, Greatwood and Warton got free tickets to come with parents. That swelled the gate considerably....

About the attendances we have four more home games in which i cant see any of them being under 2000. Plus if we carry on with this unbeaten run we could end up with a couple full houses get the posters made drag a friend along with you lets raise the volume

Its a real shame we haven't had many 'big' home games already this season but we should still improve our average over the last few games considerably. I still face over 4000 to turn up for the Bradford game and not all of them will be from Yorkshire!

Can't believe that we still haven't beaten our highest crowd of the season which we got against Rotherham on the second Saturday of the season!

Better advertising is certainly needed though. I saw us advertising the Wycombe game 2 weeks after the match was played!!

Luton 2800
Notts County 1899 (I'll not be there... :( :( :( )
Bradford 3400
Bournemouth 3600

Both Luton and Bournemouth will bring more than usual ...Luton last game in FL and Bouremouth may be 'last chance of survival'.....

No chance of 3600 against bournemouth last game of season unless we need to win it to get in play offs cos they will be safe by then

I agree, people are overestimating the potential Bournemouth attendance. I'm confident they'll be safe before then, in which case their fans will have little incentive to make such a long journey other than it being a new ground for them. It's also highly unlikely we'll be challenging for a play-off place so I don't think we'll get a huge home turnout either. Bradford will fill their end easily, so it very much depends on home attendees as to how large that attendance is.

We've apparently sold our first allocation so far, Mains stand is it?
Can't have been much because it was sold within a few days.

I can see a 4,500+ crowd in this fixture, surely?

It could be a massive game as we will need the 3 points to jump Bradford so we can make the playoffs while they continue their slide to midtable.

The Bradford game last year was awesome and with the attendance being 4700 that night, I can see it being around 4000+ again. We are on a fantastic run at the moment, Bradford are going for the playoffs, so may we when the game comes around. This fixture will come to the attention of many 'fans' who wouldn't usually turn up week in week out, plus its on Good Friday.

My Prediction - 3800 - 4200

A win on Tuesday night and with results hopefully going for us it could well see us return to 3rd - 4th place. Just goes to show how tight it is this season.

Talking about crowds....Burscough had 2,201 on the gate yesterday against Redditch. Did they have a promotion on or something? Great crowd for that level given the catchment area of the club.

I had thought that the 2,201 might be a typo, but thats what Tony Kempster has listed on his site. Did seem out of proportion compared to their other gates.

How many goals have they conceded in the last few games, our strikers should be looking forward to the game.

Luton have sold out their allocation of 30,000 for Wembley and have asked for another 7,800 tickets

Conceeded 15 goals in our last 5 away games. - On average that's 3 goals per game.
- But yet at home, we've conceed once in 9 matches.
