Club Statement - No more January signings

Club Statement - No more January signings

Postby vvm » Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:36 pm

Awful statement to read just been put out by the board of directors. No more budget can be made available for transfers this January as Jason has stopped providing any funds.

https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2025/j ... statement/

Sounds like the injection of funds by the prospective new owner and the Chelsea money will be used just to keep us afloat.

We'll need a miracle to stay up now. He's almost killed us.

Quite a few of us were expecting this, and yes, the £160k injection was also probably just to finance existing wages. Jason would have had to advance more loans if we hadn't had a good cup run, but now the club have the cup run monies, he doesn't need to provide any funds. Makes a mockery of the Board saying the monies would be kept within the club - it's semantics, it's not going to increase Derek's players wage budget, just means our losses this year will be less and we're borrowing less. It's all an absolute nightmare.

Got to hope that the Board have issued the statement to try to force Jason's hand, a bit like the way we've been releasing all our players at the end of the last two seasons - all to put pressure on Jason to either sell or finance the club properly.

I fully expect Derek to walk away at the end of January, if there's no more money for him to bring in more players. He's been lied to AGAIN, and the club don't deserve him here.

Got to assume Derek fully believed he would be able to use the money he was promised. I don't think he'd have prioritised the backup keeper over an attacker otherwise.

Him staying is our only slim chance of staying up but I fear he'll walk.

What can you say about a bloke who's failed to deliver on every promise he's made...I can think of a few words and none are polite. He doesn't give a toss about our club.

But equally the Board made statements that we were debt free and sustainable. And then the accounts showed a £1.2 million loss and debt building up again. It's all a shambles.

I knew it, and the amount of people trying to mock me on social media for asking if the budget had been blown after the last 2 signings.

We need to call for administration ASAP

No need for anyone to do anything, we are heading in the direction our Club owner wants us to end up. If anything foolish happens he will blame us, plain and simple, we must continue supporting the team and put the Club were it can be in a position to cope with what is to come.

I am only making an educated guess but the owner to protect himself against any difficulties he may be in financially will eventually mean the Club may well go into administration.

For the Club to have any chance of surviving that, we must keep what money we have in the Club. We have not to allow Whittingham to take any thing out of the Club. If we don’t stay up on the pitch utterly disappointing as that will be.

We will only get creditable bids if we go into administration, (not more tyre kickers), if the Clubs finical position is relatively strong.

As for our prospective new owners what a complete let down.

Not great but no need to make things worse.

It is also not burning my head in the sand it’s about surviving as a football club altogether, if you want a football Club to support, be very careful what you do.

I suggest you go and watch Lancaster City FC if there is no Morecambe FC to support, do not think that that will not happen.

Look do what ever you think is fit, but I would ask you first to think it through from every angle, you seem to be blinkered that the kind of action you are advocating will make a positive difference to our situation.

The Board of directors have the nuclear option!! is it the right time to do that?? Who knows, but what I took away from the Fans Forum is that it must have been thought about so many times, but their fans and do fans do something that might irreversibly affect the Club in a way that may impact on the Clubs ultimate survival. That’s in or out of the EFL.

I’m convinced Whittingham wants administration and it’s another yard down the path towards it.

We're 5 points from safety so I think whilst there is still a glimmer of hope of league 2 survival, we shouldn't do anything that could put the club at risk of a fine or points deduction.

I know that's said a lot but as soon as we get a game stopped or abandoned, there is no coming back from that. The points deductions will cut us further adrift, the fines will eat further into the budget that is just about keeping us afloat and the attendances would be cut in half. It really is the nuclear option.

Question for somebody. Do rules allow premier league clubs allowed to donate money to clubs like ourselves. If so what would happen to any money donated?

I'm probably in the minority but what options did our BoDs have other than ymto issue the staement regarding funding our and their club?

No way can the blame be put on other than the utter shit of an owner who will only sell the club to somebody already with a connection to his Bond Group. All attempts by an outside party to negotiate a sale have been scrapped by the current owner.

If DA walks who could blame him. But I somehow and hope that he will stay and as always act in the interests of the club and his staff.

As for that shit called Jason he has once again reneged on promises. He over saw the demise of one club. He now willsee the demise of another.

Our only hope is that a local personality will step forward and provide sufficient funds for rge manager is bring in at least 1 loan player

What a mess. Lets hope that things get sorted soon, but you could see perspective signings having second thoughts reading this statement.

Half a million extra revenue from the cups and we still can't sign anyone. What is really going?

It could be that Jason is trying to force the EFL to accept Momi by saying that it's the EFL's fault as he himself has a buyer. :?

No doubt Derek will walk and who can blame him. Then what? The board resigns? Can the board bring about Administration or does it have to be Jason/Bond Group?

Neil

We know Tyson isn't interested in the club , and your local consortium idea is a non starter,

We seem to attract only fruit loops and wrong uns for some reason.

I can only see the spiral going one way

love the club but despise the owner !!!!

A big fat THANKYOU to Rod and Co for everything you have done for this football club. Publishing this must have been so hard for you all and I’m pretty damn sure you have broken JW’s gagging order but hey needs must at this time and the fans deserve to know. I think the end is in sight and not in a positive manner.
