In coming striker

Rumour on the concourse is that we have signed a striker who will be named in the coming days.

We will see if it materialises

Sounds as if this guy could be a useful asset but only time will tell......whether he is the new striker and whether he will be a useful asset.

Let’s hope he brings us his Solihull Moors goal scoring form.

So more than our current centre forward. Get him in that staring line up.

So the Goalkeeper we signed who was sat on the bench today and another midfield player who started, say if we pay them both in wages for the pair of them for example £1.500 a week or what ever, surly that could of been put towards getting a better quality of striker than the one mentioned?

I don't want to sound negative but if we do get a striker in, which we need, Derek will only leave him on the bench and still start Dackers. His does have the occasional good move but where's his goals :(. Hope is fair better, pressures defenders etc. So fingers crossed if a striker does come in he's not another good player sitting on the bench.

Errmm! Which good players have we got that are left sitting on the bench? Derek is fully aware that we need a goalscorer and has mentioned it several times recently.

Any team that has a striker who doesn't score goals is in trouble. We are that team playing Dakkers upfront. I am sorry to be so blunt but Dakkers is not good enough to play at this level. True he can trouble defenders and win some headers but his primary job is to score goals and he doesn't. Dallas is the new striker and he must get a start immediately. It's no use us playing well but losing regularly. We are on course for relegation!

Once again, we make a good signing and all people can do is moan

Dallas ticks the boxes for what we’ve been missing. He’s a very good goalscorer, as shown in the NL, and looks to have a variety of goals in his locker. Had a couple of loan spells not quite work out recently but despite that, Barrow fans seem to rate him still and have commented on his hard work.

Seems like the big jump to L1 when he signed for Barnsley might have knocked his confidence a bit, and it seems he’s struggled to get it back in his recent loan spells, but there’s still a player there who notched 20 goals in consecutive NL seasons not that long ago. I’m genuinely not sure what people were expecting? Us to go and poach the current top scorers in L2 or the NL? In terms of realistic signings, on paper this is right up there as pretty much the best we can feasibly get.

Cooke and Dallas are strong additions if we can get them firing, and 100% tick the boxes for what we’ve been missing. Personally I’m very happy with them - and Derek’s alluded that there is another loanee lined up as well.

Have to agree. I have been reading this thread with my head in my hands. This is a quality signing, a proven goal scorer at NL level but numpties on here still whinge. In the last 12 months we have had to suffer Gardner and Hiwula whilst watching Dackers this season.

Our fan base is the worst.

I’ve got no problem with who Derek deems fit to come in and help us finish 22nd or above, what can he do if we cannot compete in the financial side of the game.

The league is much of a muchness, there is not a lot between a top team and say us, Tranmere or Swindon down at the bottom. The quality is only relevant in that other teams are better at finishing off chances. With that in mind we need two strikers and let’s hope we get them this week. Maybe too late to contribute much for our next two games this week, but they have to hit the ground running.

So let’s start from 1st Feb when our new look squad will be up and running, there will be 19 games left and only goals will save us, so with teams being much of a muchness and the same with the players, do mind sets have to change?

Here’s one example, Crewe 2 subs on 58th minute Morecambe 4 on 74th minute when we are 1-0 down, how many times as that happened? The opposition makes subs, it changes the game and we wait and wait and wait!! Why don’t we inject fresh legs or change our style after 60 minutes?

I fear it may also be more points than the usual 42-43 points needed to stay up and it’s going to be around 45-47. Look at the teams already on 27-28 & 29, we badly need a run of 4 wins out of six, just for us to catch them up.

I still think it is more than doable, we compete with the vast majority of teams in this league, so these strikers that come in are pivotal to our continued presence and survival in the EFL.

We signed Aaron Collins in a January window a few seasons ago when he was a totally unknown kid who’d been let go by Wolves (so much less of a record than Dallas) - he scored quite a few and gave us a massive boost. Keep the faith and let’s not judge this new lad after 2 games either.

this lad helped 2 different clubs to 2 consecutive National league finals at Wembley, not many have that on their cv, lost both unfortunately but it’s anyone’s game once you get that far, (luck on the day really) but this lad certainly knows where the net is. As previously stated this last year or 2 seems to have knocked his confidence a little, the jump a bit too big maybe but these type of players Derek strives on so it’s a thumbs up from me

Three in seven will do for me!
Important typo... 3 goals in 17.

He's actually exactly what I expected. Still quite young, struggling elsewhere, who Derek will hopefully develop and rebuild confidence. Last three loans haven't been successful, but Solihull & Chesterfield certainly were. With our budget, this is where we shop.

So how did that work out then?

We need him to score at least 10 in the remaining games a big ask.
We have already had 12 goalless League games, and can't afford many more

It will be interesting to see the starting lineup of the teams Derek puts out once all these new players are in post. Obviously somebody will have to make room for them, especially as I expect Derek has brought them in to play.

A lot will depend on formation, but if Derek keeps to a 4-2-3-1 as seems to be his preference and to be fair has worked reasonably well except scoring goals from the chances we create, who would you leave out?

For me even with all the endeavour that Dackers has shown he is still scoreless so he has to make way.
Jones as a false number 10 is another, just not got a killer pass in him. The other maybe a bit controversial but for me is Tollitt has not been good enough of late, he has lost his scoring touch, so he’s another.

I would like to see 4-4-2 myself so somebody else would have to go and because of his crossing ability it would have to be Tudonda or Edward’s, (I would shift Edward’s over to the right were he played last year).

Let’s see who these strikers actually are and see what they do. 7-9 wins, 4-6 draws which means we can loose 6-10 if we can do something like that and get 25-33 points hope is still really strong when 63 points are still on offer. I think it’s not a lot to ask as I have said before, we compete but you don’t get points unless you score goals.

Hope eternal!M

What is not a story is that Derek himself has said he is bringing in a striker/strikers, don’t expect it to be on own website today, maybe tomorrow?? as I said we have to trust in whoever Derek can get with the budget he has to score goals.
