Well that’s money well spent, Moore broken down again!! rather an out filed player and that goal scorer we desperately need, but maybe it’s not that easy.

It is money well spent as we need goalkeeper cover with Stuart Moore injured

Nothing against Alfie Scales but he's no where near ready for the 1st team

Did we need a goalkeeper? Unless he's better than Harry Burgoyne, then if we didn't sign him, but Harry was unavailable, we could make an emergency signing.

Welcome along, but we REALLY need someone who can put the ball in the net.

If Stuart is injured longer than first realised then yes we did need to sign keeper cover

Better to have keeper training with us full time than bringing in an emergency keeper

Did we need a goalkeeper? Simple answer: yes.

I'm not sure in exactly what state they're in currently, but I think emergency loan rules have tightened considerably in recent years. And regardless, what if Burgoyne is injured in the first 10 minutes of a game, and we don't have a keeper on the bench, or only the lad from the academy?

It's boring and not very 'sexy', and if we're honest is unlikely to do a great deal to get us results (fingers crossed Burgoyne stays fit and in form), but getting a second choice keeper with a bit of prior EFL experience was ultimately necessary given Moore's misfortune with injuries. He's been without a club since summer - I imagine we've got him relatively cheaply.

Seems like decent enough business, and ticks a box for us.

Ryan says he's been training for a week or so with us so who says we don't have other players training with us as well

Maybe some more announced next few days

A very good welcome addition & just can’t believe people saying we don’t need him and what about the outfield players. Outfield is being addressed just be patient but we need another keeper and Derek has stated this since Christmas time so it’s no surprise really. Outfield players will be a lot more difficult to get but trust in Derek to do the best. It’ll still take a miracle for us to stay up but Derek is the best person to take on this challenge. Carlisle should or will be hoping to pull away now with an almost full new squad, we don’t have the funds to splash about but we do have the passion to give it a very good go

Wrong! Don’t forget the Football league Trophy, EFL Cup etc and the 30 matches in the Championship closing 2021.I know what you mean though but don’t try to make him sound poor. Good keeper dropped when he got injured and he’s fighting to get back again. How many times have we helped players get back and they’ve helped us with excellent performances

Calm down folks. I imagine he's the first of 3-4 signings. We need a decent backup goalie for Saturday

We have had a Hobsons choice, Moore is long term injured and we needed cover, as Derek said, so if he is called upon he now has to step up for Morecambe, like has been said, but so have all the squad. Maybe he hasn’t taken up to much of our funds.
I hope the next new player coming in is that goal scorer we desperately need. If not tomorrow for this Sat I would like to see them for the week after, Colchester and Bradford away, hhmmmm!!

I think we might have to wait till nearer the end of the window for a striker and probably pick from what is left. We aren't going to get an experienced striker who is any good so I'm hoping for a young loanee wanting to make a name for himself.

Makes sense to bring in another keeper whilst Stu Moore is still nowhere near fit. Also this might be an unpopular opinion but I’m still not convinced about Burgoyne. His stock is high with the fans at the moment because he saved a penalty at Chelsea and he makes the odd decent save but there’s been a few too many mistakes for me. We need someone else to at least provide another option.

Welcome Callum Cooke, hope he hits the ground after playing in Sunday League.
Derek will know him from Bradford

Callum Cooke signed on a deal until the end of the season.

27 year old attacking midfielder.

Formerly of Middlesbrough academy, played for Blackpool and Peterborough in league one before moving on to Bradford and Hartlepool where he made over 150 league 2 appearances.

He was released by Hartlepool in the national league last summer.

Second signing who has been away from the EFL since start of this season.

We have to trust DA in his belief that both are worthy of a contract until the end of this season. Hopefully both will show that they are worthy of a contract going forward into next season.

Strange being in a multi multi millionaire environment just a few days ago with £250M on the pitch and now we hit reality with maybe 4000 (if we're lucky) rather than 40000 in attendance , got some catching up to do.

I can't remember exactly, but I think the 'emergency keeper' signing is if the club doesn't have a keeper who has played 'X' first team games at 'Y' level or above. In a perfect world, with enough money for all positions, then obviously, another keeper would be a good idea. But, this is a salary that could be used towards another outfield player.

Obviously, if Burgoyne was sent off or injured during a game, then that wouldn't be good, putting an academy player on, but that doesn't often happen.

It is good that we've got cover, but we really need to get those outfield players in, ideally before Saturday! Half the transfer window has passed and we're currently weaker than when it opened.

Latest update I can find on Moore was from the 19th December where Derek said he would be sidelined for the next 4 to 5 weeks. Meaning he should have been back either this week or next.

Got to assume he must have aggravated it further or Derek has lost faith in him to stay fit. Otherwise it seems strange to pull the trigger on signing what, on paper, is a fairly lackluster replacement. Schofield has been a free agent since the summer so doesn't seem like he was going anywhere.

May be not every bodies choice of players to leave this transfer window but for me Callum Jones the Hull loanee contributes very little and was directly involved in 2 of the goals v Chelsea.

If we are to bring in a striker then money has to be made available for DA to at least be given as much help as possible financially.

The 2 new incomers will probably take up circa £50K (probably less) in wages in total until the end of the season which leaves DA circa £110K (based on what we have been told) to play with.

To release Callum Jones would save some more finances that DA badly needs in his efforts to bring in that much needed striker.

No doubt many will disagree about Jones but that is my take on the current situation regarding the financing of a striker.

Hopefully Lee Angol is close to selection again which provides DA with a further option.

id have to agree with RR (first time ever)
with regards to callum i think he been very disappointing to say hes affiliated to a championship club
id go as far to say hes gone backwards rather than forwards since his first stint with us sadly

no striker, we need goals.
