It’s been muted before, so nothing new. It’s seen as a shield (I think Russian Missiles would go over the top of it if it all hell broke loose), but I think it’s the minerals etc that are there American wants in the short term.

Well Norway isn’t going to let that go and Russia and China are both in the Area, so who knows?
Alaska was Russian before they sold it to USA in 1867 and Canada is only Canadian because of the British and French fighting it out before it became part of the British Empire.

It’s just another round of dividing up the World into different parts, we know Trumps volatile rhetoric is over the top, the intent is there but so is the intent from others is there to keep it.

There's a real need for north sea oil and gas to successfully manage the energy transition. However, scrapping windfarms makes him sound like the complete ignorant fool he is.

It's bad enough what damage we've already done, without opening up more areas of the planet.

We remain dependent upon fossil fuel, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be transitioning away from it as efficiently as possible.

but the rest of the world dont seem to give a toss apart from a small minority , and it's very expencive for ordinary people, like in the UK trying to achieve net zero by 2030 or 2035

I’m more concerned with Starmer and what he will do in the next 4.5 yrs. Society is changing anyway with what’s gone on in the last 28yrs, all governments since then have all been in power to long and it’s done the country no good. Policies that affect each and every one of us each and every day have been past and for an oldie like me we have gone backwards.”Things will only get better”!! That was nothing but a big lie back in the dawn of this century and the reset that will take place in what I believe will be another 10 yrs of Labour, I just cannot see them losing this majority in one election, will continue us on the journey.

Hospital beds per head of population now compared to the Blair experiment.

Anyway they needed paying for and to get us out of the debt we were in it was all paid for by selling gold, 400 tonnes between 1999 and 2002 from memory but fact, gold is 1000% higher today. Oh and we are still paying bankers back for building those hospitals. It’s not the rosy picture you paint.

....and the current Chancellor is doing such a superb job .......give me strength..they are both as bad as each other. Take money away from pensioners to keep warm.... and take nothing from the super rich despite false promises in her pre election ramblings. Both Labour and the Tories are one and the same but in differing coloured clothes. Both looking after their paymasters and not giving a sod about the rest of us in so many ways.
