Dackers?

Dackers?

Postby Keith » Sat Dec 28, 2024 5:03 pm

I wonder if Dackers would be better playing in a different role?

For a big lad, he's got decent balance and is skilful. Our goal against Carlisle began with some superb play and ball control out wide. I wonder if he'd be better playing in midfield, or even defence? He clearly doesn't have that predator instinct for goal. He works hard and has 'something', but that 'something' is not as a goalscorer. Could he offer something elsewhere?

So how did that work out then?

Unfortunately somebody has to go out and hard working though he is(to me anyway), he doesn’t score goals and more than anything that’s what we need, desperately, some would say.
If he is sent back I wish him well, he has a lot of games under his belt and it can only do him good. Maybe a bit more strength to play loan man up front, but that will come with age.

Jones could be another to go? and Charlie Brown needs to think about his career, it’s stagnating here, I just don’t think he is going to get a chance of a game here.

That’s maybe 3 out, but if Derek given some funds we can bring in 5 maybe??

We need quality rather than quantity, so three out, but with extra money, maybe bring in 3 better players to replace them?

3 out and 5 in would probably mean the same standard of quality we already have which simply isn't good enough for avoiding relegation.

Could be right Ken, just thinking of injury’s we have had our fair share to important players and long term to boot! Edward’s, Moore and Angol. So a bigger squad could give the boss more options??

Derek said he will have to bring in a goalkeeper as cover, so if he does and it’s three, that’s only two out fielders!!

Quality is important who ever we get and hopefully we have the funds to do that so maybe a bit of both our thoughts, Ken??

Looking at the 'investment' recently, we may have enough to pay the wages for three decent additional players. I'd certainly send Dackers back too, so that's possibly four players incoming. At least one has to be a goalscorer, another with pace and creativity.

Looking at the way he provided the assist for the goal against Carlisle, I did wonder if he’d be better suited to playing out wide. It feels like we’re insisting on playing him as a target man just because he’s tall. Sadly, I’m not convinced he’d be terribly effective anywhere. I wish the lad well but it’s probably best he went back to Salford and was loaned out somewhere a couple of levels below where he might be able to build some confidence.

Can't see Derek sending Marcus back to Salford unless and until he has another forward (striker?) actually signed. He did sign a season long loan.

I was thinking the same city shrimp... Marcus also put in a great cross for our equaliser away at Fleetwood

Could certainly be worth an option

If Dackers stays why not put Tollitt up front and put Edward’s back on the right, that sort of thing?

Till we get a new Centre Forward!!

I’ve thought this for a bit now and I’ve held back so as not to not rock the boat, but changes will be coming in January and players need a shake up. So here goes.

I’m not a Tollitt fan but he has an eye for a goal so stick him up front as his work rate, tackling, ball control and passing has not been great as far as I’m concerned. He loses possession time and again and his chasing back is poor. Let’s try and exploit that eye for a goal and see if it’s really in him?

Defenders quickly catch on to Tollits short comings and know what he's going to do. Tollit 99% of the time goes on the outside of a defender very rarely opting for an inside passage. Maybe if he varied his game he and we would benefit

Interesting to see a bit of criticism of Tollitt. As the only player who’s really scored this season, he’s basically undroppable but his performances have been inconsistent. I think both he and Gwion are put under pressure to deliver as nobody else does.

Every single player is under pressure as they won't want a relegation on their cv

If Dackers stays all well and good (even if he’s shifted out wide). Williams and Jones probably done enough to stay as well , but those on contracts that take them to the end of the season have to fight even more for our survival, if they don’t agree to leave like Harrack.

Yes I was critical of Tollitt in my previous post, but I was also complementary that he has an eye for goal and because he’s staying perhaps we should utilise that eye for goal. When he’s stuck out wide (and everything that goes with that), we are missing out on him getting more goals. I really want him to do well, you know.
Happy new year.
