Mmmm! Never thought about counting the blank spaces. It might not be accurate but, as you say, logically it might just give us some idea of the seriousness of the situation.

The club are once again 'sweeping stuff under the carpet' a bit like the situation regarding the stewards searching of fans recently, which was just wafted away weakly in my view.Think the 'Trust' needs to step up more about these problems, hope they are not becoming too close to club officials. If and when we get new owners we need to push for a fan representative to be attending board meetings. We have come so far over the last few years in building up the fanbase etc,it would be such a shame to go backwards now!

I posted on another blog before I read the whole of the EFL statement and I noted that the sums of money were blanked out, five failures to self report and a 2 point deduction left hanging over the club.

The doc has gone through last years shenanigans, pretty well covering the sloppy way things have been run and the way fans are constantly treated by the club, by keeping them in the dark. It cumulated in a plea for openness and I concur and I think many will as well.

Just an observation, others may not agree with, but it is a bit laughable that the Club plead that the fans don’t do anything that will cause the club to have point deductions, When we had a 3 point deduction last year and now we have another 2 point deduction hanging over us because of how the club is being run.

That plea for openness should also go to Jason and the prospective buyer (really!!) TELL US THE TRUTH.

The EFL also need to look at timing out the supposed agreed sale of the club, it becoming embarrassing that it’s still going on and they are letting it ride. IT IS DAMAGING THE CLUB and they are part of that now.

Did the board tell porkies to the fans. If you go on YouTube and watch the forum, the club were adamant that they'd done nothing wrong and it would be sorted.
Now they've accepted the charges.

Very shoddy of the management. Note it’s not paying late that’s the issue. It’s the club not telling the EFL that the taxes were paid late within the reporting time limit. That’s just incompetence by whoever has the responsibility of reporting to the EFL. It’s also incompetence that the taxes were paid just a few days late each time. Looks more like someone forgot to do it.

Well it’s been sorted now?

I think they were saying that they had done nothing wrong without accepting that something was wrong, in relation to the late payment to HMRC and the clear responsibility of a Club, that it is clearly in the rules, that you have to self report and it turns out they did not do it when they should have.

I think that’s right, who the hell knows??

Yep I've no doubt there has been an error but you've got to be more open with fans because as a club I reckon once we get past January we enter the period that we seem to have problems paying the wages. It usually happens and brings a togethernes with fans.
Hopefully we aren't un this situation this year because I fear some fans might not be on the same page this year.

Is it just me who feels some sympathy for the few good men who are attempting to run our club in difficult circumstances on a shoestring budget.

At the end of the day they all have their own complex businesses and personal lives to look after and trying to sort out Morecambe Football Club as volunteers must put a tremendous strain on them.

We all make mistakes and things go wrong and I think in the circumstances some of the criticism is OTT.

Maybe now we have a CEO in place again things will improve. It must have been a nightmare after the last one jumped ship.

I agree with you Pheonix that the board are good men working under very difficult circumstances and that we all make mistakes BUT I have always believed in owning up to mistakes, correcting them and learning by them.

As said above, we have a new CEO but as yet we have not seen or heard anything from him!

Maybe he could come out and explained why, as it is stated on page 9 of the report in respect to paragraph 33, section a. (i) what was really behind the repetitive and persistent nature of the failures? (ie. All down to the owner or not). They could also lift the secrecy surrounding the HMRC VAT assessment that the report says has left the Club out of pocket and tell us how much by?

Come on club include the fans, is it something that should remain confidential? It’s pivotal to what went on and has helped lead the Club into being hit with point deductions.

Thing is that the repeated failing to tell EFL of the late payment of tax spanned a very long time period, including the period before the CEO left, not just the "void" period after he'd gone and before the recent new appointment. Whoever is responsible for the club's finances was asleep.
