When does everyone want in the 3rd Round ..

Newcastle or Man United away for the money

If not that

Winnable game at home (maybe Harrogate / Accrington)

Ideal draw, away at Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd or Man City. Possibility of going down in history, as the last FA Cup game at Goodison Park

After that, home to any Premier League side.

Any body but not from EFL1 and 2.

Would be ideal to play away at one of the really big boys.

Great day out for fans and a nice pay day for our club.

Would be superb for the players and manager to pit their wits against some of the games overpaid premadonnas.

The tension of the third round draw. I'm already nervous. It's worse than a penalty shoot out in a big match!

Given that there are now no replays, if we get drawn a big premier club at home do we have the option of switching to their ground?

Would we? Should we?

That particular avenue of extra finance was banned several years ago. Otherwise I guess the likes of Man U would very rarely end up playing an away tie!

What is best for the Club and fans?

Another game at home where we might progress to the 4th round?

A home game where we get a big premiership team at the Mazuma with the likely hood of being knocked out and a limited financial benefit?

Or what about the big away day at a premiership club that gives us a fantastic financial uplift and a great away day for the fans even if we get stuffed?

Going back to the 1956/57 season (when I take it Morecambe managed to get to the first round proper for the first time), Morecambe have never been in the fourth round!!

So on the basis of that I’d like this team to have a chance to make Club history, so it’s a home tie against winnable opponents and let’s see what these players can achieve.

Then get the big away pay day and fan experience.

Cash! An away draw at a big club, preferably a North West one. I'd rather Man City away in the Third Round, and go out, than a smaller club and into the Fourth Round, where we still need to get a decent draw for cash.

Obviously, ideal would be away to a Premier League side, then cause a giant killing! :D :D :D

Lincoln away would be pretty dreadful.

Just 'Googled' to see who else is still in it, to decide what the worst draw would be. Found the Daily Fail had done a simulation draw... See who the Fail paired us with... (Can't believe I'm linking to them, but here goes...)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... y-day.html

Away at Mansfield would be grim, we never get anything there.
Away at Exeter?
Away at Bromley?
Away at Dagenham wouldn't be great either!

But the Daily Fail's simulation is bound to be right!

I don't remember the comp but I went to watch us at Sunderland, the place was half empty. Being so early in the cup and against a league 2 team I don't think the place would be full. A winnable tie at home against a team that would give us a sell out match. Then maybe a prem team at our place.

Guaranteed sell-out at home......but as often as not you'll be stood next to 2,3 or more clowns who rarely watch Morecambe and spend most of the match talking loudly amongst each other about something you'd rather not be within earshot of!

It was a League Cup tie. Wasn't Martin O'Neil manager at the time. I think they were a Championship side at the time. I think an FA Cup tie v a top Prem team, would be pretty well attended, simply because people struggle to get tickets to Premier League games.
