If anybody gets the chance I suggest you listen to todays post match studio comments by one of their summarizers who is very critical of DA's recruitment policy and suggests that signing over 30 aged players as well as non leaguers who could not get games in non league last season was totally wrong and DA should have gone for players not over 25 who wanted to play at EFL level.

He blames the ownership problems and the lack of backroom staff to help DA and is certain that we are already in a relegation battle.

Your thoughts please....

I would imagine when you are offering wages which are less than what you could get at a national league side it's very hard and you just have to take whoever you can get.

We have had to get players that were released from national league sides because everyone else will be getting contracts and earning more than we can offer.

We are pretty much running the club on a conf north/bottom of conference budget.

I went to see AFC Fylde v Maidstone today I bet a lot of the players on the pitch are on more than our players.

I think Jason's leaving gift is going to be relegation.

I don't think he'd "leave" even then. There's obviously something in it for him (or he thinks there is), if Morecambe gets relegated again, or even goes under. He's not bothered at all about what league we're in nor whether we even have a team. I wonder if there's something "wrong" with the Trust's ownership of the land which he thinks he can exploit somehow (or selling it to other spivs on that basis). Maybe even doing a "Christie" again to sell the Westgate land and relocate the club's ground somewhere else less valuable.

The transfer from Christie Park only went through because there were no significant objections. If he tried to do that again, there most certainly would be. I'm really beginning to think the only way out of this will eventually be Administration. Another relegation, but at least we'll be rid of him.

None of us really know how much players get paid, we can only speculate. However I was told an interesting fact recently by a guy who's a director at NPL Matlock Town (who were very much our rivals back in the day). During the last close season their new manager Brian Laws wanted to sign a defender from a Conference North team. The player and his agent demanded £2000.00 per month clear, so Matlock would have to cover all his expenses and tax liabilities etc' and pay him the full £2000.00 afterwards. That's part time, training two evenings per week and at most playing two games. Laws who had been out of management for a while and had never managed at that low a level before was apparently gobsmacked by the amount of money involved, even at level 7. Incidentally Matlock signed the player on his terms!

Whoever runs a football club nowadays definitely needs very deep pockets even that far down the pyramid.

I would think that that is the going wage and higher in non league these days even at Level 7.

It's only £500 a week which isn't that much I would have thought. :?: :?: :?:

I've no idea how much our lads are on but an average of £850 minimum per week with some on significant more would seem reasonable... :?: :?: :?:

Saturday is an important game for Morecambe, we just don’t want another shut out and the opposition grabbing a 1-0 win.

When you break it all down, even if it’s just want to knock Morecambe FC no matter what, what happens, how it’s happening and why it’s happening, it all leads back to the ownership.

JW is the common denominator of everything that is going on.

I would also like to say, like I have many times before, if he is such a great businessman, why wouldn’t you have sold Morecambe FC way back when they were put up for sale? (League One status good income from Cup games, reasonable squad, gates high!!!), surely he would have got a better price at that time.

The bid way back when that drifted off with the tide has he just waited for the tide to come back in?

That is the type of things these pundits should be shouting from the roof tops and how it’s ruining the lower league Clubs.

He's only interested in getting this inflated offer through from the soft drinks tycoon.

Let’s get these games into some sort of context shall we as we have only played 3 of 46. High flying Doncaster who were flying at the end of last season and seemed unstoppable had only won 1 in there first 8 games of the season and look how they finished! It’s a very long season with lots of twists and turns. By Christmas I thought Donny were doomed but it must have been some Christmas party to come out all guns blazing as they did

It's been said more than once from various sources that the pop man will not be the new owner of the club...so what makes you think otherwise....

The worry is it might not be the pop man who is trying to buy the club but is it an associate in his circle of businessmen?

Everything points to it being those that attended at the Mazuma a few weeks ago.

I don't think the pop man was ever more than a front man. I suspect a new front man may now step forward but I suspect the money will come from the same place, just more carefully packaged.

Don’t these people who supposedly are purchasing the Club, Pop Man or his mates Snap or Crackle, realise they just might be paying too much for the Club?

Is it all a bit too cushy? Have they just all jumped off the same box? Is there a connection between them that we don’t realise? What is their memorandum operandi or what their end game is?

Have they carefully re-packaged the same deal. Is that what is being said by others and are they right to being sceptical about the end result.

In the end it might be that the worry is all for nothing, doubt it, but it’s a possibility.

That bit does bother me, if Jason won't listen to offers from anyone else because this one is just that much higher then why?

My personal view is Sarbjot made a ridiculous offer, that was never going to be completed, but now Whittingham believes that is a realistic amount to hold out for. For example, the club is actually worth £1 million. Sarbjot offered £6 million. Whittingham accepted £6 million. Sarbjot pulled out/couldn't complete. Whittingham now won't consider anything less than £6 million, because he believes that's what it is worth.

Soon, it will be worthless.

Absolutely right Keith. Jason Witless.

If the rumours are correct, and Jason has big debts to pay, perhaps he can't accept any less than what Sarb offered in the beginning?

But he haven't got two brass washers to rub together...so he might as well wait for Lord Lucan to put in an offer as he rides in on Shergar...
