O/T The current violence following Southport

Lest some may think otherwise let me be perfectly clear....as a Grand Father of a 4 year old girl I'm in total shock and disgust at what happened in Southport and the events following it make me sick to the stomach and am ashamed at times to call myself British.

Unfortunately a certain section of the community are acting like animals and deserve whatever punishment is given to them by the Courts who can only give them maximum custodial sentences as directed by the judiciary who have their hands tied by archaic laws totally unfit for the modern age.

For me whoever creates havoc on our streets; attacks the police and insights racial hatred should be locked up and the keys thrown away. There is no place in a civilized society for thugs and their leaders who seek to disrupt our way of life for their own warped ideals.

As for racism I totally reject any forms of discrimination irrespective of colour or creed but we do have an on going problem with illegal immigrants that does need urgent attention.....but as to how we rectify such an increasing problem is beyond me.....
.
The Tories tried to resolve it with the defunct Ruwanda scheme....whilst the current Government prefer to tackle the problem at source by prosecuting the gangs who organize the illegal boat crossings that cost lives..but what do these gangs care. They are making fortunes out of those wishing for a better life and to them lives are cheap.

Whether such action will resolve the problem is open to debate....but something needs to be done and quickly otherwise those who seek to change our way of life by thuggery and violence will spread like cancer throughout our country resulting in loss of life at all ages and every section of society.

I've read on several occasions that one way of cutting it significantly would be to introduce an ID scheme, as proposed by Blair. The principle effect of this would be to restrict the so-called 'Black Market' (and black is not used in a racial context, for clarity). This means that all those coming in or being trafficked for that purpose would find it much more difficult to work. This is the principle reason they don't want to stop in France, which has exactly such a scheme. The problem is privacy campaigners always rail against the idea. For me, I've nothing to hide and no problem with it.

The simplest and surely the most effective way of stopping illegal migration across the English Channel is to stop illegal traffickers plying their trade. Hundreds currently cross the English weekly by dinghy, putting a complete stop to this should make everything much more manageable.

The authorities know who the traffickers are, therefore putting paid to their very lucrative and potentially dangerous trade once and for all shouldn't be too difficult.

While I accept that this wouldn't completely do away with the problem, it will definitely slow it down. It will make the journey a lot safer for those who have a legitimate reason for coming to the UK, and also for those who risk their own lives in picking them up from the English Channel.

I agree but how do you stop them when some are operating away from the shores of France etc :?:

For me and it is politically sensitive is for the French and UK Border Forces to dismantle the boats before they set off. Backed by the armed forces any potential threat to our joint Border Forces could be handled by a joint armed forces contingent.

IF the authorities know who are the traffickers why has nothing of any significance been done before :?:

Sounds to me plenty of well intentioned talk but sod all action.
