Additional Striker up date

Rumours of a striker joining the club seem to have faded in the last few days.

DA knows we need someone so let's hope his proven ability of bringing in a loanee will work wonders once again...after the success of Mr Mellon... :?: :?: :?:

At least with a squad of zero loan players we aren’t going to have the half season mass exodus we suffered last term !

I would put our own player Saul Fox Akande and bring him on, he needs that now not next year or the year after. 6ft 1ins mobile striker, youth willing to learn. Worth a punt when you see those strikers still looking for a club. I hope he’s given a chance.

We have 20 squad player so I expect some young on loan players again from higher league clubs, so why not one form our Club?

I wonder if it would be possible to bring Kieran Phillips home. I remember him being a decent player for us last time. Presently on loan at Sacramento Republic.

Accept that I didn't research the article to see if it had already been published.

Will try better next time.....OR simply not bother to keep fellow SVers informed of squad developments.

Not sure that he will be that successful having had quite a few clubs of late.

Mind you Slew wasn't regarded as a decent striker until DA got hold of him and the rest is history.

Didn't go to Workington but didn't seem to impress, those who went.

Wonder if DA is having problems bringing in some loanees at the moment and is playing the long game and waiting to see how we go on until January when the loan market opens again. If so then maybe DA is being a very canny Scot.

To be fair he admits he isn't match fit yet.

I'd expect Derek will get a tune out of him but doubt he will be prolific

How many goals had Stockton scored before The King managed to get a tune out of him?

It’s the same old story when it comes to strikers. We want a proven goal scorer which will never happen (because why would they come to Morecambe) and we’ll end up with either a teenager on loan who’s never scored or a journeyman who last played in non league and we all moan about ‘where the goals will come from’.

And yet we do occasionally find ourselves with someone who can regularly put the ball in the net, Stockton and Mellon being the most recent examples. We haven't got the money for a proven striker and I can't see that changing if Sarb & co take over.

Give the lad a chance. Let him get up to full fitness 1st. He scored 5 in 12 for the gaffer at Bradford before injury but hardly any under Hughes when he took over plus almost (but not all) the clubs he has played for (except loans obv) have paid a fee for him so there is a decent striker in there it just needs unlocking again and with Derek having the key and a bit of support from the fans we may just bring Angol back to life :D

Too many of our fans take their opinions from the fans of the clubs where some of our signings have played previously. They slaughtered Slew at first and are only just starting to realise he is a decent player.

I think the King is better at assessing players and their abilities than fans fortunately.

On another matter Fleetwood Town have just sold one of their strikers to Crawley for an "undisclosed fee" and their fans are in panic mode saying they have only 18 players and very little in the striking dept. The real world starting to hit home !
