In October 2009 Stuart is aiming to walk the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is also the hightest mountain on the African continent at 5896m, over 19,000ft. Even more so challenging for himself, as he is a below knee amputee.
In 2001, whilst serving with 22 SAS, he became the first military casualty as a direct consequence of the war on terror. Stu sustained three gunshot wounds serving in Afghanistan and his Army career was brought to an end. Now after seven years of rehab and recovery he wants to help some of the other brave men and women who are facing life changing challenges after being injured in action.
Stu has chosen to dedicate some of his time to raise as much as possible for the charity Help for Hereos. http://www.heroclimb.com/?page_id=93
