We really needed to maintain momentum.

At least it was cancelled before the team or fans travelled.

Four home league matches on the trot is unusual!

Highly suspicious this.... Blatant Dogenham & Partridge behaviour if you ask me.... they have key players injured, are in terrible form... and would probably prefer to rearrange this game until after they have finalised their January recruitment. Cambs will instead hide behind the veil of health safety after high winds have caused thousands of pounds worth of improvements to their cabbage patch of a ground. They could easily relocate spectators behind the goal if they harboured any genuine intention to get this game on - especially playing a team like us who will take a couple of hundred at most. Completely tin pot if you ask me!

That's just embarrassing.
You telling me that they cannot repair or make safe that little hole?
No reason to call the game off for a very small area of the ground.

Some shocking comments here

How about people's SAFETY ....which is much more important than a game of football

We had a breeze block wall fall down in the wind back at Christie Park in the very early Conference days and still played the next match with the said bricks still lying in situ where they had fallen.

Unless there is more damage than in the photograph it certainly isn't 'extensive damage'.
Again I'm sure it isn't beyond means to get the game on safely.

It's a local safety advisory group who have informed the football club to call off the game due to extensive damage

Sure they know better than some fans 300 miles away

FANS and WORKERS safety is far more important than a football match

Cambridge might have injuries but that's nothing to do with game been called off (they have had loads of injuries for weeks)

A few years ago, we played a home game vs MKDonalds (?) in horrendous wind - so much so that an advertising board on top of the away end came loose, snapped, and fell onto the pitch. I think we won 4-1, Richie Bennett with a brace. At no point was that game in doubt.

The local safety advisory group sounds really important and official to be fair. I'm sure they know best, if they even exist.

Cambridge fans are coming to the same conclusions:

@camtrublue: "Postponing until we have new signings seems prudent."

@Dave_Stacey87: "Thank God for that, we might have bothered our arses to sign some players by the time we play the rearrangement!"

@Liam_Wizard: "Not wrong fella, but we gotta do what we gotta do"

Dagenham & Redbridge did this a few years ago - postponing league games due to spurious international call-ups, but playing FA Cup games during this period. They went down anyway.... "sometimes in life, justice". You might night remember because I think you'd stopped going to games for 10 years until we got promoted.

Its all very convenient if you ask me!

Yeah.... they must be 300 miles away too.

Honestly - I have not seen a single Cambridge United fan say "correct decision"... in fact the only people who have expressed this sentiment appear to be 300 miles away.

Looking at that photo, they may want to do an asbestos survey before playing any more home games!

After reading the report that the match is off tomorrow due to extensive damage to the stand roof, I viewed the photo on the Cambridge website. I was surprised to see how what looks like two broken pieces of corrugated sheeting can be deemed 'extensive'.
If there is a threat of more panels blowing off as wind gusts of up to 40 mph are forecast overnight and tomorrow, then perhaps it is the safest option to postpone the match. However it does seem a very convenient situation for Cambridge, and is bound to raise suspicions of 'foul play'!
I just hope that this doesn't affect our good run of form.

Could actually be a blessing for us as well

Gives us an extra weeks rest before a tough spell of 4 games against

Ipswich
Bristol Rovers

When you are just starting a winning streak you don't want an extra week's rest, you want to play for the chance of continuing that streak! You ask DA what he thinks.
I'm not supporting the comments on here about underhand tactics but I see it as yet another slice of bad luck for us.

Although there were rumours about Phillips being injured and doubts about Cole Stockton being fit so we could have been struggling up front.
