Earlier kick offs in Winter?

Earlier kick offs in Winter?

Postby redrobo » Wed Aug 31, 2022 4:46 pm

Heard last night that there is a possible change to Kick Off times after the clocks change to 1pm instead of 3pm to aid clubs in reducing their power bills by saving the use of flood lights.

Makes sense to reduce power costs where possible.

Can't find any news about it elsewhere... :o

The suggestion is, this may happen for mid-week games too.

Lunchtime kick off for weekend & bank-holidays would be a sensible move.

So how did that work out then?

Wonder what the savings will be? Might lose a few away fans for longer treks though

Maybe the club need to invest in a solar panel system at the ground, I noticed that Barnet have panels all along the roof of one of the stands that runs down the touch line, on the side where the players come out.

Barnet spent £400,000 on those panels, a massive outlay but they now receive £35K a year in subsidies
