Your Team for the Opening Day

Asuming Twiss, Stanley and Yates are sold, And you can bring in a couple of realistic targets, what would be your team against Wycombe?

Id Buy Craney and Bishop and go 4-4-3 due to lack of creative Midfielders,

-------------------Roche---------------
Parrish----Bentley------McStay-----Adams
---------------McLachlan------------------
---------Craney---------Carr-----------
-----Bishop----O'Carrol----Howe---

Subs; Davies, Artell, Drummond, Wainright, Blinkhorn

Pardon? I suggest you learn to count before trying to play Mr Clever Arse.

Not a cat in hells chance of us getting Bishop. Too high a value!
But football's a funny game and it's still silly season.... ;) ;) ;)

As for Craney......possibly, but Wainwright has done enough to suggest that he should be a definate starter...for me at least. :D :D :D

4-4-3 + the goalie = 12?

your formation actually shows a 4-3-3

Ah reet thought he was on about my team selection, counted them about 5 times and got 11 everytime!

Can i change it and play a 443 anyway? I can add Wainwright into my starting line up then! ;)

Howe on the bench? he may turn out to be the best striker we have. Im sure time will tell and we'll get a better idea of the starting 11 after the next few pre season games. The way the squad looked on tuesday (my only pre season game to date) and the other players not involved, Sammy will certainly have a few selection headaches (good one's!) over the coming weeks. Looking forward to watching the new boy Howe on saturday, does anyone know if he's trained with the other lads yet?

Ok only a small number to date but no mention of either Stanley or Drummy other than Stew as a sub!"

Ok, I've not seen any of the new players but what the hell...

.............................Davies............................
..Parrish..........Bentley........McStay.........Adams..
Wainwright.....McLachlan........Carr...........Howard
....................O' Carroll.......Howe.....................

Subs: Roche, Artell, McCann, Lloyd, Blinkhorn

Now, I think a new left winger is an immediate priority so Howard would only be an interim starter.

Early days yet but based on what i have seen .

Roche
Parish........Bentley........................Artell..........Adams

Wainwright.........Carr................Stanley............Twiss

Howe..............O'Carroll

That would be asumming Yates leaves and Twiss stays and Howe is as good as people say.

It seems i am one of the few people who prefer Artell of McStay, to me Artell makes a partnership with Bentley.

Artell did but it fell apart somewhat after Christmas and McStay for me (based on what I saw of him) is a better player and crucially much quicker.

Artell is strong in the tackle and robust, but IMO, McStay is more skillful and more of an all rounder who can play the ball out, rather then hoof it. He makes less mistakes then Artell too, IMO.

I would like to see Bentley and Artell as our defensive partnership and if Yatesy goes Mcstay at right back.after all he was signed as a right back.Beginning of last season Bentley and Artell were awesome,Artell struggled 2nd part of season but didnt everyone?Confidence restored lets give them a go.

I thought Drummond did well on tuesday. Fully fit and firing, im sure he'd be an asset to any team at this level. Was the Doncaster game his first outing since his injury?

Neil Wainwright will be the signing of the season.

I think Tuesday nights defence is as good as it gets and I certainly wouldn't change it for the world, this with Fraser sitting infront was a master class

So here we go then.

.........................................................ROCHE...........................................................

................ PARRISH...............BENTLEY................ARTELL.........................ADAMS

........................................................FRASER..........................................................

................WILES.......................................................WAINWRIGHT.........................

........................................................TWISS............................................................

..................................O'CARROLL......................HOWE...........................................

If Twissy goes then replace with Craney, failing that Carr or Stanners, i've got a feeling we might be going places this season and how many would have said that without Thommo & Baker?

MC Stay IMO doesn't look nearly as comfortable at right-back than he does at centre back. He's a great reader of the game and can stop an attack dead, despite not being a bulky defender.

Agree Neil Wainwright is very good signing, but I think Parrish will be great replacement for Yatesy if he goes, never put a foot wrong IMO, only young too.
Unfortunately defenders often don't get as noticed as strikers or more prolific goal scorers.
I was glad Danny Adams got the recognition he deserved from the fans, when he won fans award, a keepers job is much easier when they're behind a solid defence.
As I stated previously, hope we sign Simon Wiles, looked tricky against Doncaster. ;)

I think you'll find that Drummy played the 2nd half against PNE last Saturday, Sean! ;)
