2022/2023 Budget

2022/2023 Budget

In DA's interview on Radio Lancashire he made it clear that 75% of the Budget has been taken up by those players on 2 year contracts plus those who have been offered new contracts.

Unless we can see some of the 2 year contract players moving on DA may struggle to put a team together that reflects his preferences and playing style.

In short this is another example of how Judas has run away from a problem of his own making.

The BoD quite rightly supported him but on the evidence of what we saw on the field that support was not reflected by Judas's signings on the field.

DA said that a new contract for Cole has to be made available...and so say all of us.

That's 17 players then if you include the 4 still under contract not up for sale which of a squad of 22 is 77% so that would be about right.

Maybe Derek thinks that even some of the better players Cooney etc are on big money for what they offer and thinks he can get better value elsewhere.

It happens quite often when sometimes you have to sacrifice a high earner who might not be quite producing the goods of what a top earner should. I always remember Jim Harvey releasing Terry McFlynn for the same reason and everyone was going mad thinking JH had lost the plot.

Just on the situation regarding Terry McFlynn, he wasn’t released for any financial reason other than Terry wanted to go to Australia with family and play over there, he was a player the club desperately wanted to keep after paying £14,000 for him from Margate. Although in fairness to Terry he had a great career over in Australia
