Gillingham v Fleetwood?

Gillingham v Fleetwood?

Postby Keith » Fri Apr 15, 2022 5:18 pm

My head hurts, looking at the various permutations, trying to decide what I want to happen in this game!

Obviously, key is a win for us. If we do that and Fleetwood win, then Gillingham would need to win their last two games, against Portsmouth & Rotherham. If we win & Gillingham win, then Fleetwood need to win two from three, against AFC Wimbledon, Sheffield Wednesday & Bolton.

If we win, Fleetwood winning is best.

But, if we don't win... then what? A draw would keep both of them below us. A win for either would see them leapfrog us, with the other clear points behind us. But, if the win is for Gillingham & loss for us, sees them above us, but Fleetwood with a game in hand, and having to play AFC Wimbledon. That may see us drop in to the relegation places.

Us winning is key. A win for Fleetwood is probably best.

I feel sick!

So how did that work out then?

If we get 4 points from 9 that would see us safe in my opinion

Still 3 very very tough games to go

Sunderland could just could rest a few players if they get to the play offs before the last game ???

I was thinking that. If they are sure to be in the play-offs they won't be as intense to avoid injuries.

Draw probably best. Otherwise a win for one will throw the other into deep trouble.
