An observation from the Aldershot game

An observation from the Aldershot game

Postby sgt major » Mon Feb 23, 2009 12:11 pm

Just been reading the football section of the Sun and there is a good article and photo from the Aldershot game.

The picture is quite unique as it depicts three players who have probably played against the Shots back in the Conference namely Wayne Curtis, Gary Hunter and slightly obscured, Jimbo. They are celebrating Drummies goal. (Who I dont think played for us against the Shots. Although I may be wrong)

I wonder if any Shots players are still in the squad from the Conf days.

It has always been a hard game at the Rec as those who went to the 3-3 and 2-2 draws will know. Added to that the defeats and very close win and now this victory we may be turning a corner regarding wins in the south, all we need now is to give the Daggers a good game in a few weeks and put a few past our old mate Tony Roberts and all will be well.

I think it was the Brentford game where we were playing well and it was noticed that all of the team apart from about 2 players were in the conference with us.
If you then look back at the start of the season when Stanners, Drummy, Yates were out of favour and the new signings were playing we were really struggling.
When the old favourites came back who Sammy wanted to ship out we then got back on track and our season has slowly progressed.

Tony Roberts has just turned 40

http://www.soccerbase.com/head2.sd?team2id=92&team1id=1732 is what you're looking for, Mick! Drummie played in the first meeting at Christie Park on 6/9/03 and has evidently scored in all three matches in which he's played. I'll leave it to you (or Ockers!) to work out who's still playing for them! Only one defeat though, not bad at all, and that was probably only down to Robbo getting sent off early!
