He wasn't in Southports squad at Telford yesterday and he said on "Facebook" that he was signing for Morecambe on Sunday.

Perhaps Shrimper will have some news soon.

Welcome.....MD

With the lads in their current form, there will be no pressure on him to make an immeadiate impact.

Plays on either wing - just like Wainwright!

Good wide options if he's as good as we hope and Wainer keeps up his form.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

I can't get excited by this signing at the moment.

It's clearly a relief for Sammy to finally have his man, but lets be realistic and not put too much pressure on the lad from the off. He's been playing Conf North for the last two seasons, and now he's on our books he'll be playing at a significantly higher standard week to week. Its going to take him time to adjust, hopefully he'll get that time. Like it or not, he's also got the measuring stick of Carl Baker to contend with.

I think bringing him in now as opposed to the end of the season is a good move by the management. Firstly its another player for Sammy to call upon and aid the squad shortage we have due to the injury problems. Secondly, MD's got from now until the end of the season to settle in and get used to training on a full-time basis. The article in the Visitor also reads as though we are not obliged to sign Duffy permanently after the loan period, moreover there will be a contract offered should Duffy cut the mustard. Is this the case? Have we paid a fee to Southport? Is he out of contract with Southport in the summer?

Good luck to the lad anyway. Liam Watson at Southport seems to think he has the potential to play L2 level.

I've yet to be convinced he's a league 2 player but I hope he proves me wrong.

I think it's a blinding deal for us. Seriously.

Well, as Ockers hasn't yet called him a non league two bob bit player with no ambition, he must be good!!!

Strangely enough, when asked what he thought of Baker prior to us signing him, Mellow said he was "awful", so there you go!

I'm either being whooshed badly or your memory is simply dreadful!

You won't have heard many sing baker's praises higher on here prior to his signing, hence the old ockers debate.

Shhhhhhh......you're not supposed to mention that Mellow.....especially the part about Baker being a two-bit non-league player with no ambition :D

I've yet to read what the basis of this deal actually is. You seem to think its a fantastic deal for Southport, can we assume then that Morecambe have paid a fee for Duffy? The Visitor article reads as though Duffy has joined us on loan, and providing he warrants one a conract will be offered to him in the summer. Reading Ports messageboard it appears he will be out-of-contract with Southport in the summer, thus a freew agent. Granted, given the players age we would have to pay Southport a fee should they offer him a new deal at the same terms, though these fees seem to be minimal as we learnt with the fee Carlisle initially offered for Danny Carlton.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Is it not the financial aspect of the deal you are pleased about, but the fact that you've got rid of a player that wasn't performing for you?

Payment has pretty much been agreed.

I'm pleased because I think it is a good figure for the player.

He has performed largely well this season although the distractions of the last few weeks have certainly affected him. And it also meant we found it hard to start with him not knowing when exactly Morecambe would finally complete the deal.

Good luck to him, I hope he does well.
