Jokull Andresson

Jokull Andresson has returned to parent club Reading after his loan spell with the Club.

The Icelandic goalkeeper made 17 appearances for the Shrimps during the 2021/22 campaign, and made some highly impressive saves throughout the season.

Manager Stephen Robinson said: “Jokull [Andresson] heads back to Reading with our best wishes, he is a fine young goalkeeper and was a brilliant character around the dressing room.

“I am sure he will go on to have a fantastic career in football and myself and the rest of the Club wish him the best of luck with whatever comes next.”

Little bit gutted about this one. Seemed like a nice guy, pulled off a few wonderful saves and had bags of potential. Unfortunately what we need right now is experience which he doesn't yet have.

Yes - it had to be too critical on him given his age. Unfortunately he is not yet consistent enough to play in a struggling league one side, but his time will come again somewhere else. He has the ability to go on to better things IMO, so hopefully he got out of this loan spell. He was fantastic in the win at Blackburn Rovers. Good luck Jokull.

All the best Jokull for the rest of your career! You seem crazy enough (in a very nice sort of way) to make a top keeper so all the best for the future!

Amen to that. We need to remember that as a 19 year old who had never met ANY of the squad before, he kept two clean sheets for us last season in situations where he wasn't exactly untested. I thought he was great with the fans and - despite a few basic mistakes - he has made several tremendous saves for us this season. This lad has undoubtedly got Star Quality. I hope his time with Barry Roche and Morecambe will be fondly remembered by Jokull and help develop his career in the future - wherever that takes him...

Good luck to Jokull, a decent keeper in the making, just not quite ready for a battle in League One.

So how did that work out then?
