Really sad. Quite possibly their last game. Played match with 1 loan player and 10 youth teamers. Entire first team squad have gone.

Feel a bit sorry for the Rushden fan who goes to all the away games and was taken ill on the journey down this morning, returned home and missed the game. Gutted he must feel!!

TAKEN OFF WEYMOUTH FORUM, TOUGH ON THEIR FANS

Today, WFC had to put out a team of U18's to fulfill a fixture in the BSP. The reason that they were playing was the entire first team could / would not play due to the club not having insurance to cover them. WFC jumped into bed with a property developer who sold the land to a company that he started specifically for this purpose. Since selling the land, the club has been run down to it's current state where administration, or even liquidation is on the doorstep.
These young lads performed to the best of their abilities today, they eventually lost 9 nil to Rushden. A scoreline that was totally expected. I think you need to take a look at our message board to read some of the comments regarding Skysports laughing at comments made by your team of presenters and pundits today, as each of those goals went in. Not only was it disgusting, it was very damaging to Skysports who sell themselves as a channel for all sports fans.
I feel an apology is required, not only to those young lads who went out today at very short notice to play aginst professional footballers, but to the fans of WFC. I've included a couple of links below to show you what's been done to try and save our club. If Skysports had an ounce of decency it would make a donation to the Save Our Club fund as way of an apology.
As an example of how true sports / football fans behave, the Rushden players and fans, along with our own fans, gave those kids a standing ovation at the end, even after watching them get hammered 9 nil. Whilst I understand that Sky focuses on the Premiership, I still find it totally unacceptable that you found it hilarious to belittle a club with as many problems as WFC at present.

Being a bit tough on Jeff and co methinks. The club is clearly in dire straits and that in itself is very sad, but don't put the blame on Sky Sports.
Tough experience for the youth players I'm sure. Hope the club survive...

Why is it a bit tough on them? These are well paid, allegedly professional pundits who opted to totally take the p*ss out of a team in trouble Disgusting.

Is it not the case that the Soccer Saturday crew had no idea about Weymouth's plight and took the scores at face value?

Had it been Setanta I'd possibly agree but since Setanta took over the Conference coverage, Sky have had no involvement. I had no idea about Weymouth's situation, and I daresay Martin the orignal poster of the thread didn't either.

I think if Soccer Saturday have had complaints Jeff Stelling would waste no time in issuing an apology next week, even though perhaps it shouldn't really be needed given their lack of knowledge of the situation.

I live in Morecambe and support our local team, I was aware of Weymouths problems. and think their fans deserve better, regardless of whether or not the sky panel did or did not know what was happening, they should not be in the business of taking the mick when they are calling themselves a news channel !!!

Full credit to the many fans that stayed to clap off the kids at the end

It's true, I had no idea what was going on there. I posted because I found it such a shocking scoreline.

It's very sad that a club should find itself being run into the gound like that. It highlights how lucky Morecambe are to have a board that has carefully steered us to where we are today.

I hope they are successful in saving the club in whatever form or at whatever level they can. After all we do have a connection of sorts.... As Christie Park closes, our Cup match against Weymouth almost 50 years ago will stand as our record attendance.

Rather shockingly, they have had 19 managers in the last 20 years  The previous 13 spanned a period of 42 years.

Personally given that Rushden aren't really playing for anything, once they went 3 or 4 up they could have gone a bit easier on Weymouth. Its not really cricket to take the piss like that against effectively a youth team.

the BBC pundits knew what was going on at weymouth, i don't think it is too much to ask the sky lot to be as on the ball.

if the beeb had messed up you can be sure that sky would be putting the boot in!

For my 2p's worth, it does not say Weymouth u 18's, so even if thats what played they still deserve the same respect as the full Weymouth team, so expecting a team to take there foot off the peddle when 4 or 5 up is wrong, come the end of the season and you miss out on play-offs by goal difference and all hell would brake loose.

How can anyone even suggest that lot (SS) might not have known what was going on? Bloody hell! These are meant to be some of the better of the pundits! It's their job to know football. Pathetic.
Those poor youth theam lads would be gutted at bthis, they need to learn how to lose but not in this manner.

Jeff said when the first goal went in that the players hadn't been paid in 2 months.

For what it's worth I think that the pundits are allowed to say whatever they like. The whole point of soccer saturday is that it's like a load of mates watching football in a pub, well I've got to be honest when me and my mates saw the score in the pub we laughed as well.

Yes it's crap what's going on at Weymouth, but it doesn't mean that they shouldn't be accountable for the score, which is likely the worst in the clubs history. It's 9-0 in the record books, regardless of who played, and 9-0 is a laughable score.
