RIP Tony Webber

RIP Tony Webber

Very saddened to hear that Tony passed away today. He was on one of my hero’s as a kid. Brilliant player, quick and had a rocket shot. Set up both goals in the 74 Trophy final and had time to hit the post.
Met him twice, like a tongue tied teenager couldn’t believe what a quick wit and lovely man he was. Has a great career as a sports teacher in Bolton, and a lethal non league winger.
True Shrimps legend, remember as as 13 year old being gutted when we sold him to Alta, but we need the money apparently.
RIP Tony.

R.I.P. Tony. A great player with a heck of a shot.

I met him at the launch of "Light At The End Of The Tunnel" and he was a really nice guy and signed my copy of the book.

Is Tony on our Wall of Fame ? He would be very worthy of a place.

It’s a sad time. The goal at Wembley you describe, sandgrown, with Tony Webber crossing and Mal Richmond scoring reminds us that both key players in our FA Trophy victory have died. Their feats for our great club will live on.
